I baught the cable instead of returning the predator thinking that it would be quicker to just download the update than to return it to the store and wait for Diablo to get it update it and send it back. but they still don't have the update ready yet. The reason why the cable is 40 is because they use a 9pin serial port and laptops don't. so you have to get a usb to serial. so now I have $440 invested in a brand new product that still doesn't work.
Same thing here I also went to Radioshack and bought the cable just so I could hopfully get my $400 to pay off. Im not verry happy about spending the money only to have the programer not work. This bug should have been worked out well before they hit the market.

If you are still within your 30 days, do like I did and send it back now while you still can. It’s not acceptable to me for them to sell a product that they know will not work and then tell the customers that they have fixed the problem and now you need to spend more money to get something that you should already have. All you have to do is read the topics in the forum section to see that the problem is not fixed and this is a company that is not customer friendly.

What started the whole thing is probably Ford changed their program and the trucks that Ford has updated triggers the theft device when we aftermarket people who want more than 225hp in a truck add these aftermarket programs. What was Ford thinking in the first place selling a truck that is such a panzy? I had a 76 Olds with more hp and tq. I just hope Diablo will get the bug worked out so that I can have a truck that can get out of its own way. If not I'm returning it to the store. shoulda baughta dodge.
Interesting... I personally have a spare goosneck hitch that you would be welcome to attach to that 76 olds. If it cranks out 500+ ft lbs at 1600 rpm it shouldn't have any problem moving a 40ft trailer. The truck was designed to haul lots of weight. Stop all that weight and at the same time cater to all the custom wants like a non truck riding truck.

The main problem with the anti theft was for it to be able to work on all of the trucks. Since Ford uses a vast number of files and the majority of them are all labeled similarly and excursion pcm files being a much smaller number the tuner must be able to sort through all of them identify the specific vehicle. Install the correct file and leave everything operating as was intended. Excursions use coded keys and f250-550 do not. Telling an f-250 that its an excursion would lead to not being able to start the vehicle.

Obviously I baught the f350(not excursion) for all the the things you stated however that doesn't negate the fact that it is under powered. Anyhow I just figured that after a year of driving a laboring truck that with my stimulas money I could get tires and a program. So On wed. I took the non working preditor back to the parts store and traded it for a edge. it works. If you get a toy from McD's if it doesn't work no biggy. spend $400.00 and it is a whole different story. Especially if the company knows that the product that I just baught has flaws. Sorry guys but that is business. Oh yeah and when I called them on the phone they were hostile. Try being nice on the phone. maybe I should cut out the deck lid and install a hitch and some heavy duty springs... I bet I'd give any stock truck a run for the money.

Tune ready for the weekend?

Post by powerstroke7.3 »

I am just hopfull the tune will be ready for the weekend. We are going out of town and was hoping to save some money on fuel. Seems weird to me I have worked in retail for the past 17 years and when there is a problem or special event you just dont leave the work behind. Ever thought about staying late to get the tune fixed, or maybe working weekends. Just a thought.I'm just starting to get very frustrated with the poor customer suport, and also frustrated in that we now have to spend extra money buying cables just to get the product working the way it should have out of the box.

I understand your frustrations, and do apologize.

I will say however, that nobody has just punched out and gone home since this issue was discovered, some of our engineers have been putting in quite a bit of OT on this one to get it fixed asap.

Thanks

I just bought the U7170 and am having the same problem with my truck not starting after loading a tune.
I am wondering what is the latest version that should be on the tuner?
One I have now is
Boot: ford_7_3
v.9r01
Hardware: UNIV_REV2
Bus: SCI CAN

I have a crom that needs to be updated again but it will allow you to use the Predator in the tuck.
Post up if you'd like it, and I will email it to you.

Thanks

I am also having the same problem with my programmer. I bought mine like 3 months ago and I got it to install into economy setting, but I would try to go into any other setting and my truck would start but as soon as I tried to put it in gear it sut right off. Personally I wonder if the economy setting is really installed?? I even went to radi shack bought the cables installed the new file and it still did the same thing. You would think that a company wouldn't sell a consumer something that they know there having problems with. But then again we live in America where everyone is always trying to screw someone over.
