Rear view camera doesn't activate

Post by JamesD »

I installed the EAS Backup Camera and attached it to my DiabloSportTrinity 2 EX Platinum. The Trinity Help file states that it activates in reverse.

The camera does not activate when I shift into reverse.

Presumably, the reason that it does not activate is that the "Current Gear" PID always returns "Park."

I know that PID problem has been brought up before, but since I actually need the PID to return usable data so that the camera activates, I hope there is a chance of it being fixed.

What do you say?

Thank you for your response, Mike. I have had some family issues that took my time, but I finally have some time for this. Yes, this is regarding my 2006 Magnum 5.7 Hemi.

I just plugged my programmer into my laptop and ran UpdateAgent, which installed package r565 (18 files).

Up to now, the Current Gear PID (0x13002) has always displayed "P" regardless of the gear selected. I wonder if this may be related to my issue.

I will install the programmer into the car in the next day or two and report back.

Thanks for your time!

Hello Mike,

I connected my updated Trinity 2 today, and except for losing a PID or two, there was no change. The camera does not display with the selector in reverse, and the gear indicator reads "P" regardless of the selector position.

I called. They're working on it, but cannot replicate the Current Gear PID issue. I told them that I tested the vehicle with a Snap-On scan tool, and it reported the current gear selection properly. I also mentioned that my vehicle is bone stock, and has never had any modification uploaded to it.

I am going to test the T2 with a Dodge Hemi with a 48RFE transmission rather than my NAG1 transmission, to see whether it reports the current gear properly. Perhaps that will be a clue.

It will be a few weeks before I have access to such a vehicle, but I will report back.

I tried my T2 with a Ram 1500 with a Hemi and a 48RFE transmission rather than my Hemi + NAG1 transmission, and I got the same result, namely, the gear indicator always shows "P" no matter what gear the selector is in, engine running or not.

As your technicians are unable to reproduce my results, perhaps you could provide a list of vehicles they've tested, so I could reproduce their results? I think it would be handy to find some common ground that works for everyone. Not trying to be a wise guy here, but in troubleshooting, I always like to have a working base model from which to start.

this is due to not currently pulling PID data froim the TCM, but there is a fix coming.
