Shift Firmness question

I tried to do some searches but couldnt really come up with an answer to my question.

I have a buddy that has an '06 Charger SXT with magnaflow exhaust and afe stage 2 CAI. He has been using his diablo (not sure which revision) almost since the time he bought the car. He uses the 89 Oct perf tune.

I have a 07 Charger SXT with True dual (Flowmaster Super 40's) exhaust, afe stage 2, and Diablo (rev 9r01).

In his ride, it seems like whenever he make a shift from 1-2 you get thrown back in the seat. For my vehicle even with increased firmness, it doesn't seem much more impressive than stock. Was this changed in a revision or are there other settings I should adjust? Outside of the shift firmness I havent modified anything else. Thanks for the help.
