Cannot back up PCM 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 4x4

So I just got my diablosport intune i3 two days ago and updated it and then connected it to my truck. It said reading truck and after it finished it gave me no options, I went inside and checked for updates and had a calibration update which I downloaded. I went back into truck and it asked to apply calibration update which I did. At no point has it ever asked me to backup my PCM. My PCM connectors are both being problematic. Both levers pulled from the base and aren't releasing the blue and green locking tabs. I know I can release them manually so I am not overly concerned. However when I connect to my computer and read files that are on my i3 the is an info.xml file and it contains calibration ID's for the PCM and TCM as well as my VIN and says there's a TCM backup, but no PCM. This occurred, because I tried to install a 87 octane tune to force it to backup my PCM. It read and tried to back TCM, but failed since it's not unlocked. I do not want to start the the PCM swap now since I know I do not have a backup to install to the diablosport unlocked PCM. I have googled this and cannot find an answer and someone in my Ram forum recommended posting here. Thank you in advance.

you are trying to tune with the locked pcm in place??

you cant do that.

restore the tcm to unlock the device, do the pcm swap, then start fresh when you get the new pcm.

Only 19+ needs to read the pcm first, but its not a backup, its a security/skim read.

So how do I restore a backup of my current PCM if I want to in the future. I did reset the tcm so that it now says no backups. I did that the other day. I meant the email I sent to tech support as in Holleys tech support page. I posted on the forum and then thought it was no longer used since the moderator was last logged in 2022. I wish there were clear instructions printed or online of the full install process. I just want to make sure I can go back to stock if needed. I also want to make sure once I get the PCM that everything goes smoothly. Thank you for your replies Mike, I really appreciate it.

I did know that I couldn't apply a tune on a locked PCM, I was trying to to trigger a backup. I did clear the other backup.

So after thinking about this some more is it because the PCM sent is loaded with my PCMs calibration data and vin before it's sent? Again, wish this information was sent with the tuner. If this is the case then great. So as long as I have no backups on my tuner it should work fine when hooking to the unlocked PCM, correct?

Sorry to keep throwing more into this, but the info.xml file on the tuner has the PCM and TCM calibration IDs. Is the PCM calibration id here what I use for the swap? It pulled it directly from my PCM so I'd assume it to be correct and Google says it's the PCM from my year make model and engine trim. My PCM connectors are both giving me fits and will require some extra work to remove so I don't want to have to pull the PCM out now since I already have the id number. Thanks again Mike!

yes, the pcm we send is programmed for your vehicle. swap it in and it will start and run, and then you can tune both the pcm and tcm.

the device always caches the last connected VIN and cal data, its not holding anything and will be perfectly happy once you install the unlocked pcm.

I pulled the same I'd with alfaobd and torque pro. On the swap page it says 11 digit number,but my id is only 10 digits. The number is 68298492af.

Okay, I think I can unbolt it without removing my harnesses to get a pic of the label. When I search the part number I mentioned it comes back as my year,make, model, engine and 4x4. Just to be safe I'll double check. I was having issues with my releases on mine as they pulled away from the track that release the connectors so I was hoping to avoid trying to disconnect them until I had the new PCM. I have new connector covers with the latches just in case mine break or are broken. Ram uses the weakest possible mechanism available for these connectors.

My PCM has an original part number and a software updated part number, which one do I use for the swap?

So new problem which hopefully can resolve itself. I connected my i3 to my laptop to check for updates and update fails due to server error. Connected via Wi-Fi the update process also fails. Internet works fine with no other issues. I'm hoping it's just a server down on diablosport's side and it comes back online. I ordered my PCM swap so hopefully that ships soon so I can get this done. Says it's backordered,but I ordered last night and I know your ordering system probably doesn't work on weekends since you guys are closed. Hoping to see an update tomorrow when business is open.
