Can't import Custom Tune from PC

I can't get the import custom tune feature to work. I made an extra tune and exported it, had it modified, and now I can't get the Predator and my PC to communicate. Even the interface says "com failed" as soon as I open it now, which it never did previously. What am I doing wrong here?

Got it to import finally....It never showed the 5% screen quoted in the instructions during the import operation. During the export however, everything acted and looked just as was described in the instructions.

During the import (to the Predator) The screen message on the Predator never changed from "connecting with PC" until the entire operation was finished. The only way I knew it was complete was the message box on the interface screen. The procedure was basically the same, you just never get the "5% complete" screen which according to the guide is the cue to start the interface. Could be the v.9r01 is a little different maybe???

Anyway...like MONTE06 said I'm all set now.

Nah, not unique to 9.x. i have 8.07r or whatever and I have exactly the same issue. Works fine to export tunes from the Predator to PC, but trying to import a tune from my PC to the Predator yields the immediate "ComSetup Failed" error message.

The Predator just sits there with "Importing from PC...", no %5 or meter like it has prior to exporting a tune from the Predator to PC. I can stop/restart the interface program, reboot the PC, reboot the Predator, etc. Nothing seems to resolve the problem.

WTF? What'd you do to resolve this issue?

resolved. Fuck around with something long enough you're bound to find out what the issue is.

First, I use a usb/serial cable. The GM_Interface defaults to COM1, and has always worked to export/save tunes to my PC from the Predator. Never bothered to look at the COM port setting.

Well, after fucking about with this thing for an hour or better, turns out that according to system manager, the USB Serial port is actually on COM4, defaulting to a 9600 baud rate. Changed it to 115K, saved, exited. Refired up the GM_Interface, chose COM4, tried to send the custom tune to my Predator, and voila.

However, as Chandler indicated, there is no progress bar that shows up on the Predator, but the GM_Interface program DOES keep track of the packets at the bottom left of the program window.

Time to go put this tune in my 06SS BEYOTCH!! I'll let ya know how it goes. I think Lewis had to go sell Girl Scout cookies, or wear "booty shorts" for some charity carwash or something like that so he's not near the phone tonight. AHAHAH!!! Love ya bro!! Chat soon!

Would've responded to you sooner with how I got it to work but I just got back from the golf course. What a FRUSTRATING endeavor, that game. Glad you got it figured out though.

Seems to be running pretty damn good with the DiabLew custom tune, though it was running pretty damn good with the 91 no DoD and LTFTs dialed in close. Amongst other things, the DiabLew tune made a 1% adj on the IS too so now I have to put on another 40 miles or so before I can log again (except for some WOT blasts). Hopefully the tune did a bit to help with the KR. Wasn't terrible, but I'd like it to come down a bit. I almost think I've got a flaky sensor, but we'll see after some logs with the latest tune.

Aside from personal "feel", have you run a log since you put the tune in to see it's all dialed in tight?

Lew's a good guy, man. I don't think I'd have put up with some of the support issues here at Diablosport if it weren't for Lewis. For instance, we're still waiting on TCM support for the U7191, though many of us were absolutely assured, reassured, and issued promise on top of promise that it was "3 weeks away, we're working on it right now". The last time I got that message was in July 2007. I know shit comes up, but come on Diablosport, WTF is up with that...?!

Anyhow, I digress. It's a cool product for sure and without Lewis' consistent and excellent help out here, I honestly believe there wouldn't be nearly as many Predator users as there are now.

I'd like to know what the F is up with the Trinity? Where's that beast anyhow? It's been in the works for ages! I'm losing interest every week that goes by and considering thowing my cash at the HP product instead, though I've been saying that for a while now.

yeah, I fixed this in my tutorial... I wrote that whole thing on memory, so I thought I remembered it showing the progress bar on import too.. oh well, I can't be right 100% of the time - then what would Mike L have left to do??!! anyway, tutorial updated.

I haven't done a log since I uploaded DIABLEW....not sure I could stand it if it ran much better....as far as Lew's help, I would agree...no kidding, once I realized that I hadn't purchased "just any old tuner" I thought I had ROYALLY screwed up. My knowledge of these things is pretty (and by pretty I mean extremely) limited. I had an '88 WS6 Formula My folks bought me new for HS grad (shit I'm old) and back then it was an EPROM, so this Predator stuff was a shock to me!! Couple that with the fact that I logged onto here at about 3:30 pm on a Friday and you had one pissed off novice by the time 5pm (and no more DS support) rolled around. I was ready to go faster, and it wasn't happnin'. Enter my man Lew and about 30 emails over the weekend later....now everyone who sees me thinks I have a "naughty" new girlfriend because of the constant grin on my face!!
