i3 Lost All Tunes in the Tunes Folder

Post by Timm10221 »

I just got my Jeep back from the shop and went to retune the Jeep that I got the tuner to work successfully back in August 21, 2024.

Before I went to tune the Jeep I ran the updater to pull down roughly 20 updates today. Once completed I went to try and tune the Jeep and got a fail when it was backing up a Org File and then it failed on the tune which bricked my PCM. The i3 went into restore mode and I got the Org file back on the PCM and the Jeep would start again thankfully.

Went back inside to see what is in the folders on the i3 and they are all blank in the following folders ( Logs, Ready, and Tunes ). Not even my tunes for my Charger Scat are in there so I am afraid to even plug this back in my scat, but luckily I saved the folder that's created with my VIN to my desktop that houses (PCM_05035904AD_Backup.drg , PCM_05035904AD_LastTuneWritten.drg and same for the TCM.

What can I do to restore my i3 and get back to tuning?

Can I drag and drop that folder with the above files to at least restore my Scats original tune and last tune written?

The i3 has two licenses for the 2017 Charger Scat and 2014 Jeep

These are the error screens I get. Yet I can find no error logs unless those are within the runtime folder where I do see two vehicle_runtime-202357144_16.dbg

The tunes folders should be blank after restoring the stock tune.
Once you read a backup or load a tune, it will put copies of those files in the folders.

Id suggest you may have a connectivity or low voltage issue to have experienced a failure during a read and during a write. maybe connect a a battery charger while programming.

Right, I expected the Jeeps files to be gone since I returned it to stock but the Charger’s last tune written and Original back up files are also missing. The Charger is still tuned.

I do have the Charger’s files save to my desk top. Should I drag and drop those in that folder?

they are just copies, no need to replace them. if you write another tune to the charger, it will generate a fresh copy of the LTW.

Aahh ok good deal. So the Charger which is still tuned has the original files backed up within the device? Just to clarify.

And the files that are created with the VIN number are copies for the user side to review.

I will get the Jeep back from the shop as it went back in with misfire issues and temperature DTCs that happened after I tried to tune it. Not sure if I boogered up the tune or not.

yes, anything married to the device has a copy of the backup stored internally, file sin the folder are there for custom tuning.
