Bricked 2011 Ram 1500

Post by JasonK94Z »

Had to send my ecu and i2 back today using overnight ups. Something went wrong during the flash and the tuner locked up. Truck wouldn’t start etc. Had a battery charger running on the battery too.

The tech support is absolutely awesome! I forgot the persons name but he helped me for an hour trying everything possible to fix this. Laptop wouldn’t update the tuner either.
He emailed me a shipping label in the end and hopefully they can recover the computer and tuner. I’m praying the thing can be recovered anyway. Truck won’t run.

Absolutely awesome tech support person!

They're rarely actually bricked, cant recall one coming in that we couldn't recover in a loooong time.

Does the ecu come back with the factory tune on it or no? Asking because perhaps this i2 is messed up and maybe I need to buy a new i3 ?? Not sure we should trust this programmer. Never had this trouble with it 8 years ago.

Ecu and tuner is boxed up ready to be sent back. Sorry again.

Ecu going back to be reflasged. New i3 platinum has also been ordered. Looking forward to it.

Old i2 obviously has a problem these days and is causing these problems.

I guess they can try. I bought a new i3 while on the phone with them. Pretty sure the old i2 I’ve had is beat. It’s in the box though. I’m just don’t trust it.

Hey Mike, here’s how it happened

Loaded easy tune and it backed up my ecu file first. Then I realized it needed advanced tuning to change the fan settings. After it rebooted I went to flash the advanced tune (Diablo tune). Went through the steps of flashing the truck and somewhere in there it said please wait. Stuck for a very long time. I knew it was screwed so I disconnected the tuner and tried again. It eventually gave me a vehicle not recognized message and kept trying to update.
That’s the short and quick explanation

we flashed the 87 and 93 tunes to the pcm on the bench here today prior to sending it back, so it does not appear there are any issues related to the pcm or flashing outside the vehicle.
