Data Viewer 2 not connecting to tool

Post by SNAFUtheJEEP »

My tuner wants me to use DV2 for getting more PIDs when data logging. When I open the software then connect tool (Trinity 2 EX) to my Jeep and then to my laptop I only get the alert from my laptop the tool is connected but the software does recognize it nor does the tool go into "remote control" mode like when using DV1. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply. Once all is connected I have clicked that blue circle "refresh" button with no change or connection. Just a heads up I did call in for help and talked with support and we went through many test (appx 2 hrs) with unsuccessful results. I was told I would get an email but never did. That was 2 weeks ago.

My tool is up to date. I also reset my laptop and re-downloaded DV2.

The Trinity will work with DV1.

My laptop does "beep" and recognize the device when connected.

I can provide screen shots or anything that can help.

Thanks

OK, id use DV for now and we'll look into this. We've been unable to replicate your scenario here.

Okay, thank you for the help.

Just a few thoughts I had.

Does the tool care what software it works with? Could my tool somehow be only able to be paired to DV 1?

Is there any type of minimum operating system on my computer or something there that could be weird causing it to not work or communicate with the tool?

Thanks in advance.

no, the device should work with dv or dv2 just the same.

not sur eon min compatibility, but as long as its not XP, it should be fine I'd imagine.

I'll take a look around.
if the goal is to capture logs for your tuner, DV will work just fine, no advantage to using DV2 in this case.

Hey Mike, so my tuner wanted me to use DV2 (I think) because he had a different set of "PIDS" per a file he sent. I was instructed to place the file he sent me (08sc.pcal) in the root drive (T:) and directly use the laptop (DV2) to record the files while driving. Is there a way to load this file into the Trinity to record the additional informaion he wants when I only use the Trinity to record data?

if your tuner has a T2, they can set up the pids they want on a t2 connected to a similar vehicle, then export the layout and email it to you. you'd load it to the T2 then pick the layout and record with it, and it would capture everything they need.
Who is the tuner?

The tuner is AJ w/Hemifastperformance in NY. He has already emailed me the file (its a .pcal). What are the steps to export that layout (if thats the correct type of file) to the T2?

the .pcal file will only work with DV2 on the PC.

he would have to create a file on a T2 and export it then send it to you.

Let me see if we can sort out why its not connecting for you.

Thank you Mike, let me know how I can help. I can be next to the vehicle w/the T2, and my laptop with a 30 min notice.

lets try this

launch the software and attempt to connect to the t2, and after a minute close the software, and go here:
C:\ProgramData\HolleyTuningGroup\PowerCal\Logs
Grab the latest log from that folder and post it here. We'll check it out.

I will do that ASAP. Does a tool also need to be connected to the vehicle before connecting to the laptop? Or just the tool connecting to the laptop only?
