i2 USB Computer Connection Issue

I haven't used my i2 in a long while. Diablew prepared a tune for my 2015 Silverado about 8+ years ago and basically haven't used the tuner sense. Recently got new rims for my Suburban and want to use the i2 to change the wheel size. Knowing I need a 2nd license for that I tried hooking the i2 up to my computer. The i2 usb connection is older fat style usb connection. After looking around quite a bit I found a cable. Problem is that when I tried to plug it in to the i2 it barely went in. Getting resistance I did not force it in and checked both ends to be sure something wasn't mis-aligned. Seeing nothing I tried again and gave it a little more force and it went farther in to about halfway. I finally ended up giving it some more force and it was almost to a depth i thought about right and the screen came on and it booted up. Unfortunately my computer didn't acknowledge that it was connected. The Updater program didn't see it and it did not come up in File Explorer as connected. I dug around and found a second cable and tried that. When I plugged it into the i2 I heard a click and got it as deep as the previous cable but the i2 would no longer get power to boot. I tried the old cable and it now doesn't work on that. I have plugged it into my truck using the ODB cable connection and the i2 boots right up.

So now I am stuck. If I can't connect the i2 to a computer I can't use it to revise my trucks tune, if I ever need to because it can't get files from my computer. I can't add a 2nd license to use on my suburuban. At this point it is good for scanning for codes and clearing codes. Anyone have any recommendations/thoughts? TIA

You don't need another license bud... just connect to the truck and modify the custom ECM tune and adjust the tire height/diameter setting, then exit back out and install/apply the tune... And that will reinstall the custom tune with your tire size adjustment in it...

Do NOT go by the sidewall sizing.. you need to actually measure your tire height, from the ground to the top of the tire, and you'd use that inches amount to set the tire height/diameter...

so then you'd go to Tune Vehicle - Advanced Mode... and select the custom ECM tune to install.. then choose to Modify the custom tune... then go to Speedo correction menu, and then adjust the tire height/diameter setting.. then exit back out, and then install/apply the tune..

that will re-install the custom tune with your tire size adjustment in it.

as long as it's within 0-1 mph compared to a GPS, you're fine and good to go.

Very important to adjust the tire height/diameter setting so that your speedo is within 0-1 mph compared to a GPS, because tranny shifting/shift points go by MPH - so if your speedo is off, then tranny shifting will be off too...

Lew - The custom tune is on my 15 Silverado which the tuner is married to. I want to change the wheel/tire size on my 05 Suburban, which it is not married to, so this is the one I understood I needed to add a license for, if I didn't have connection issues.
