Slow downshifting. Any new answers yet??

Post by SRT8Tech »

The SRT8's seem to have a really slow lazy downshift in the lower gears when going to WOT. Mine does it but not all the time. Maybe 50% of the time. Sometimes it takes up to 3 (or more) seconds for it to actually downshift into the lower gear. Just bogs for 2-3 seconds then it will downshift. Also has a real bad 2nd gear part throttle bog too. Feels like the throttle is backing off but im actually pressing the pedal down more. I dont think it has anything to do with the 91 or 93 tunes because it does it sometimes with the stock tune too. Any fixes coming up for this?? Ive seen a bunch of guys complaining about it. I do know that the 5.7's dont do it, just the SRT8's. The 5.7's actually have a kick ass part throttle shifting feel and no bogging like the 6.1's

Wish I could, but I have the same issue, even with a tweaked tune. I'm constantly manually downshifting to accelerate because the car doesn't wanna do it.

Weird thing is that the 5.7's dont do it. The way those shift is killer. No quick part throttle 1-2 shift, no throttle lag and no weird bog feel then downshift. The 5.7's just have a better drivability feel to them. Ive also noticed that the SRT8 jeeps dont do it that bad either. Might just be the gearing in those though. 3.73 FTW!!!! :)

SRT8TECH, I just replaced all 4 oxygen sensors they averaged $24.00 each. I was wondering what the difference is between the factory mopar replacements and the Bosch/Walker which are $70.00 each.

Thanks, just thought you might know.

The factory or the Bosch are good. Anything else is a crap shoot on if they work good or not. The factory ones are the best but you are gonna pay out the arse for them.

I bought the Mopar o2's and paid $24.00 each they look identical to the ones I took out. Just wondering if you know why their is such a price difference between the Bosch and Walkers and the Mopars o2's.
By the way the originals had 79,000 miles on them and they looked almost the same as the new ones.

24 bucks for new Mopar O2's is a damn good price!! List for those suckers is like 140-170 bucks.

I've run two versions, including the current one and no shifting problems.

This seems to only affect a small number of cars??
