Not saying they don't care. I just don't think we are a priority.

I just ran the calculations for running 85hp tune:

Miles driven: 321.8
Gallons to fill: 21.905
Mileage: A CRAPPY 14.69mpg!!! :x

Back to the 60hp tune for now. I looked at DP Tuner last week, sent an inquiry order form. Had e-mail response from Jody Tipton within 2 hours. Not only that, I had a follow-up call yesterday!!! Great customer service!!! I am right now trying to justify the ~$400.00 to go this way. Everyone who has one swears by it, and most are averaging 2 - 4 mpg increase!!!
Looks like I'm installing the 60 tune tomorrow. I, also hate to drop $400 on a new tuner, but, that's only 4 tanks of diesel these days. Everything in perspective.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hope Mikel is watching this string, I really would like to see a predator solution.

jammer :?
Jammer:

I don't know where you are at in getting a solution that works, but I'm betting no further along than me!! I can't even get an answer to simple question on (alleged) torque gains.

(link deleted in respect for this board)

You'll learn a lot, and see what I mean about DP Tuner.

I'm ordering mine today.
Last tank: 16.56 mpg. Guess that's not too bad considering that was a combo of cz60/dz85/dz100/dz60 + a lot of very gentle driving. Really would like to get to 18 or better on a regular basis. Mileage really only means something when you average over several tanks. Filling my truck to the same point is impossible. With the way diesel foams, you never know how full the truck is when the pump handle shuts off.

pm me after you install the DP, curious as to how it works. Been to their web site, not sure what I would order in the way of tunes.

Mikel, are you watching, customers are leaving!!!!!

Guys, if you have a tool that says 'booting_pstroke73' when it powers up, and you could not load the new crom, please post up and let me know, and I will send you the fix.

I am not able to get to my truck or tool right now. If the old crom was 7r19, didn't that sort of indicate your tool booted as ford_7.3?

Mike:

So then, either Jammer's tool says ford_7.3, or he was able to load the incorrect crom for his tool? Regardless, when will a fix be available for the older tools?

Ordered a DP Tuner yesterday. I'll keep you posted as to what sort of issues I have when I get done with the install, and have some miles on it to track the mileage gains (or not).

I am making a road trip to Indiana next month, and my confidence level is not real high that there will be any resolution to the issues with the older tools.

File size of CROM

Use the 85 HP tune for best mileage...

Is there a mistake with this file? It is 1.88 mb and all previous revisions were 918 kb. This file is double the normal size.

Big Head Wastegate
High boost wheel
AFE stage 2 Intake

It will not fit in older 128k tools, only newer 512k tools.

How do we know what tool we have as far as storage size rather than trying to upload the wrong file

Excursionist,

I don't think there is a way that users like you and me can tell. I'm sure the folks at Diablo could tell from P/N + S/N.

You won't hurt anything if you try to upload the tune and the job crashes at packet 8195. Just reload your dz or cz tune and you'll be fine. Be sure to load your stock program first, just in case!

I've had the DP Tuner in for less than a week, but I said I would post with issues and mileage.

1. It was a hassle to remove the PCM to install the chip. The cable is under the Master Cylinder, between the firewall and inner fender well. A tight spot to get to, and I am not as flexible or patient as I used to be. Plugging into the OBD II port is easier. But now I can switch the programs on the fly.

2. Routing the cable to the Pod Mount was really easy.

3. The Pod Mount needs some adhesive to keep it in place on my pillar. I have AutoMeter UltraLight gages, and they press fit into the mount. I wanted to be able to remove the F5 switch (defaults to "No Start" tune), and the Velcro exerts pressure on my mount, pulling the gage. Not a big hassle; I have some specialty RTV I will try.

4. Switching tunes on the fly is great!!!

5. I put 273 miles on the 80 Economy tune; averaged 16.4 MPG. 70-75% highway. I got 17.1 on the 60HP tune with my Predator (85-90% huighway), and 14.6 with the 85HP tune with 85-90% highway miles.

I'll be tracking the mileage still, trying to get a more comparable baseline to compare with so I will know whether I'm gaining any mileage or not. First impression is I am not disappointed with the mileage. Time will tell.......

Mike,

Any updates/status??

Right now, I'm sticking with Diablo. Personally, I am a little afraid of 'chipping' my ECM.
