predator u7193 giving error messages

Post by 04wolverine »

I just picked up a predator u7193 today in hopes of tuning the truck before a trip this weekend and it is giving me the following messages when i go to do the tune.
"script error interpreter stopped"

It then tells me to press ok and then comes up with the following message
"error backup failure error creating backup"

Thats it, then it kicks me out to the main menu.

Any advice I wanted this installed before the road trip in hopes of saving some gas.
Truck is a 2004 cheverolet silverado with the 5.3l the 8th number of the vin is a T

got a fully/completely charged battery with no drains happening while you're trying to tune??

Usually a script error results from a low voltage situation.
The battery may appear fully charged, but there may be something drawing voltage.
Try hooking up a battery charger on a 2 amp trickle charge draw, and try tuning while it is hooked up.

Well I tried the battery charger.... no joy. Removed the radio, radio amp and info fuses from the fuse block in the engine compartment...... no joy. I then sat around and scratched my head for half an hour and finally pulled the fuses under the dash that go to my remote car starter box. And finally it worked. I put in the 87 tune and then modified the tire size and torque management. It definetly tightened things up, it accelerates harder and instantly now.

So far I am impressed. Just a few questions. All the settings I can modify are modifying the 87 tune right??? I can then assume that all the settings in the 87 tune are already set higher or better than the factory tune right. For example the shift firmness with the 87 tune is probably set higher than the stock factory tune right?

Just wondering how much more I should mess with in regards to the 87 tune as you guys probably have spent lots of time getting it right. It feels pretty good. Can I still tow with the 87 tune or will it cause detonation.

Any other advice on what I should touch and not touch is greatly appreiated.

Thanks to all who helped me out.

you should be able to get a little more out of it by following my stickies at the top of the Predator GM forum. getting the fuel trims in line should give you some more acceleration/power and quicker throttle response.

It does for us that use the 91/93 octane tunes anyway... not sure about the 87, cuz I would guess that the timing/spark isn't advanced at all for that lower octane.

I noticed on one of the other posts you guys were able to put up a screen shot of the dyno test done on that paticular vehicle. Would you guys be able to post the dyno results for a 2004 chev silverado with a 5.3l and the 87 octane tune vs. the 93 octane tune so I could see the difference. Thanks

I don't know about the dyno sheet, I'll take a look to see if we have one to post.
The 87 tune is probably 10rwhp less than the 93 tune.
You are correct to assume that we have already modified most of the parameters in the tool, but you can adjust things like the tranny settings to suit your own personal preferences.

I'm glad you figured out the remote start issue, as that was my next question.
I hope some others read this thread and see that they can be a problem.
That goes back to the part in the owners manual about disabling any aftermarket electronics.....

Thanks
