RE: 89 to 93 tune
Do you have a CAI? The tunes were named for the car configuration they were done for. If you have a decent CAI (DiabloSport lists somewhere the ones they used/tested with) the car should be breathing a little better and should be running a little leaner at WOT. So they added a bit more fuel for that one. Higher octane gas can take more timing without detonation so the higher octane tunes have more timing. It's not like a "pick your power level" type of selection. You should choose the tune that matches your car and the gas you're using.

ok...what is a cai i am totally cluesless i am just learning all this good stuff
RE: 89 to 93 tune
ok i think that would mean cold air intake ? i have a k&n installed so i guess i would need to use that ?
RE: 89 to 93 tune
Here is a link to a Carbon Fiber CAI made by Hammer Automotive.
http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=107222
These allow much more CFM (cubic Feet per Minute ) of air to mix with the fuel. A drop in K&N can help but not as much as a true CAI. As for the tunes, like Quick said each tune 89-93 Octane adds more timing to the base and 89-93CAI-Octane tunes add the timing with more fuel due the CAI.

RE: 89 to 93 tune
There are no CAI tunes for the V6 cars.
The difference between the two tunes is timing only...

you are missing 2 pistons. If you can get that challenger, awsome. But I might wait for the 09 with a tremmec 6 spd.antone302 wrote:so is there something im missing with my tune...any other suggestions ?
RE: Re: RE: 89 to 93 tune
yeah, im going to wait, there going to have many variations of that vehicle and the guys at the dealership said they will be a lot cheaper, but i would still want to get the 5.7 or 6.1.
Re: RE: 89 to 93 tune
Diablo, where is this list and is the MOPAR CAI for the 5.7 on it?Quick wrote:(DiabloSport lists somewhere the ones they used/tested with)
Re: RE: 89 to 93 tune
They're all going to be the same. Mopar, AFE, Volant, etc. Mopar CAI, go with the CAI tune (if there is one for your car)Savage68 wrote:Diablo, where is this list and is the MOPAR CAI for the 5.7 on it?Quick wrote:(DiabloSport lists somewhere the ones they used/tested with)

They're actually not all the same. Only the Hammer and aFe S2 show any decent gains. The K&N and Mopar gains are minimal and others actually show losses.
