2004 2500HD 8.1L/Allison (torque management)!

Post by RCALLOYS »

Hello all
Scored a U7193 off E-Bay that had an unknown history. Well, I did pretty good for $44.70 shipped and it was never used! Anywho, played with it over the weekend making sure it all worked right and it does. Truck is an '04 2500HD Silverado, 4x4, 3.73's, ECSB, and everything is stock engine-wise. So, dumped the 87 octane tune in it this morning and headed out. Noticed a vast improvement as soon as I hit the streets. Throttle response isn't quite as sharp as I'd like but things for sure have improved. Actually surprised myself when getting out in traffic. Saw an opening in the line of cars and stabbed the go pedal. Uh huh, back tires lit up instantly. That put a smile on my face

Had talked to Mike via e-mail the other day concerning torque management and the Allison. He said if the TM parameter showed up in "modify tune", it could be tweaked or disabled. Well, it isn't in the list of parameters. Has all the trans adjustments of which I assume are of no use on the Allison since it has a stand alone type TCM. Was aware of this before getting the Predator but not understanding why they show up if the VIN denotes it has an Allison. Anywho, how do I back off the TM setting and/or disable it? Does my U7193 need a revision or is this something just not available on the U7193? Even stuff like the rev limiter, it all reads to be related to the trans. Ran across "performance shift" as well which I just learned is for tow/haul equipped trucks. Again........ guess this is useless in my application.

Anyway, hope to learn more from Mike and Johan. Main concern is TM as this is a pain in the butt. I don't want to disable it as I do tow a 8,ooolb trailer usually every weekend. Don't wanna hurt anything but would be nice to tweak it a bit by backing it off. Figure I've got 496 cubes and if I wanna smoke tires at will......... I should be able to

Most of the TM is removed in the base tune already.
It should not be in your way.

Thanks

Thanks Mike, I understand the TM is adjusted partly out of the way in the tunes. However, my questions IS.............. why do the TM tweaking options NOT show up in the U7193 in my application? Far as the trans parameters, useless due to my having the Allison.

Im having a similar proplem with my allison equipped 07' duramax. I cant do a burnout without the transmission bogging down or it might be fuel related too. But all of a sudden there is a lack of power and then the itll haul. It is really annoying and would like to know if there is a way to stop it from doing that.
