Everybody is so high on the BWoody kit. Personally, I'm not a fan due to the fact that it positions the filter low in the chassis and the chance of it getting wet. I ordered the aFe kit for my GC SRT8. It mounts higher, and uses the stock ducting behind the grille to get air to the filter. Simply modify the duct slightly, and it works perfectly for Ram Air.

hi Mike, thanks for the reply. can you let me know where i could have a look at the aFe kit? is it on a web site?
i have been searching different forums and it seems like everyone has an opinion on each kit!!
not really a simple purchase. even some guys have mentioned a loss of power from certain kits!!!
ill need all the info i can get.

Actually I haven't seen any actual pictures of the aFe kit installed anywhere. This is as close as I've seen on the web; http://estore.websitepros.com/802805/Detail.bok?no=1364

In reality, I just bought this kit because of their reputation among LX SRT8 owners (I had one on my 300 SRT8). The LX kit is among the best in power production, so I figured that since the GC was similar, it would be good for us too.

I'm not one to answer this, as I do not have a JGCSRT8!

From what we've seen here on the dyno, they all seem to make within a few HP of each other....should come down to fit, finish, price and ease of install...

I was very happy with the one on my 300 SRT8, and today the one for the GC SRT8 came, so that will be getting installed in a few minutes.

I personally have seen best results with the AFE.
Power wise they are all about the same, however the metal intakes absorb too much heat which transfers to the iat which in turn will reduce your timing.
The iat difference with the hood closed driving in hot florida for a metal vs a plastic intake was almost 30 degrees F.

Well, I installed the aFe on the GC this afternoon. WHAT A FREAKING MESS!!! Fit was horrible. Not between afe parts and stock parts, bu between aFe parts and aFe parts. Took me close to 3 hours to get the thing installed, with a majority of that grinding away metal so the tube would fit the shroud. If I worked for aFe, I'd have been embarrassed to have shipped out this unit. Not sure if they're all bad or if I got a bad apple, but either way, it certainly wasn't a simple bolt on.

oh sh*t Mike! i cant believe that you had all that trouble!!! im not the most mechanical minded of people so i feel that i may look else where for a CAI, not AFE!
after you had all that trouble fitting it in, did it run ok for you? was there any good news out of it?

I installed my Mopar CAI in less than 20 minutes. Those things are made for our vehicles fit absolutely perfect. I would put my CMR tune results up against anyones and my dealer loves the fact that I purchased the CAI from them. I know they have given the Mopar CAI lots of bad press, but like Mikel said above, all of the CAI's give differences within a few HP of each other, depends on how the tests are done. The service manager even drove my car with the CAI and the tune installed and loves it!

It runs fine. No problems there. Gave the exhaust a badass sound under load, maybe a few horses, and it revs so much freer.
