7194 initialization

Post by Whiterock1 »

Installed the program in my 2006 Vette. Questions/observations

Instructions are not for this tool, but the previous gen '05 C6. They should be updated as the '06s have been out for a LONG time!

It did NOT ask for tranny type, as instructions said it would. I went to options "Change transmission type" and entered manual. Was this necessary or did the tool read my transmission type from the backup protocol?

Is CAGS (and TM) disabled from the download? NFA needed? I believe it is, from what you've said, but want to make sure.

How do you go into changing parameters? Option menu doesn't show it. Do you have to go to Diablo tune and then 'modify'? For example, to change fan %. If you want to modify a tune, I assume you must reload the backup first, then mod the Diablo--which is in virtual memory, and then reload. Correct?

You said the fans were reset to come on stronger as part of the tune. How much more than factory setting?

How long will it take the ECM to learn the new tune?

The car started after the download ok, but I won't be able to take it out to test drive until tomorrow. Will post my observations then.

Thanx,

Mike

The tool knows the tranny type once the backup is saved.
CAGS and TM are taken care of in the tune.
When you select the tune, select modify tune then modify parameters, and you will get a list of parameters that you may select from.
There is no need to restore the stock tune in between.
You can see tha changes made to the fan settings by looking at how they are set in the factory hp tune, then compare those settings to those in the performance tune.
ECM will learn the tune fully after about 15-20 miles of driving.

Let us know!

First impression--14 mile drive to work, very foggy so had to take it easy. DEFINITE sop improvement! I don't know if it is due to leaning the AFR, TM off or what, but more responsive off the line--which is my main reason for getting it, CAGS gone--never really bothered me, but I know there are situations it's a pita, and maybe it's in my mind, but I feel more power. Will give it a good test later today and post again, but as for now, I am very pleased. If it gets better over the next 10 miles or so... :D

Ran it a little at lunch time--very smooth at 120 +, and did get wheel hop on moderate launches. Didn't get this before, so wonder if that is TM taken out. Feels very alive, not that a stock 400+ hp Vette is exactly a slug. So far, so good!
