New tune 9R04 U7165
I installed new crom file (9R04) and it seems to work well for power and fuel economy on 100 hp setting BUT I got a low injector pressure code thrown. This code appeared after a quick 3/4 throttle to merge into traffic. This is the same code that was seen on the R17 crom. Is there a fix for this?

There is a fix for this. Duty cycle for the IPR needs to be raised to meet the demand of the desired ICP based in MPa vs RPM. Because the control loop can't get it where it needs to be fast enough.
RE: New tune 9R04 U7165
Couple of questions.
1. I have noticed that you (PSDPlayer) have anwered alot of questions regarding the predator, yet you do not seem to be employed by Diablo. How do you know so much about the predator and their programming?
2. If there is a fix for this, what is it and how do I get it?
3. Why has no Diablo employee answered this question?
4. Why don't you (PSDPlayer) work for Diablo?
Bottom line, how does one fix this issue?

1. I do not work for Diablo. I do however know how the powerstroke processor works much better than most. Knowing how the fueling works I know how that code is generated.
2. The fix is as I stated above.
3. I don't know.
4. Good question.

Funny how that works! No one from DS answers the posts on the forums . Maybe they don't have the answers ?Maybe PSDPlayer should fill them in and then we could all enjoy or programmers or the paper weight as I call it, I havn't had a descent tune that actually worked for over a year!
Re: RE: New tune 9R04 U7165
Actually older tunes were put back into this revision because it was requested by customers. The issue with the tunes in 8r20 was the throttle response (Fuel Required for Desired Torque CMR name) which was not modified. As you can see here in the snapshot injector pressure duty cycle is raised. The majority of the calibrations in the tool have this parameter raised even on the 60hp tunes. Some cases injector pressure duty cycle is not the sole reason for this code to pop up. There were some changes done to the (injection pressure vs voltage) and the inverse (voltage vs injection pressure) function. Also depending on the commanded values in the (desired injector pressure at Sea Level table) . P1211 and P1212 (injection control pressure was Above or Below desired level under normal driving conditions). I am looking into this particular calibration that is in your vehicle, i will keep you posted to what i find. I will email you with an update.Smith wrote:I installed new crom file (9R04) and it seems to work well for power and fuel economy on 100 hp setting BUT I got a low injector pressure code thrown. Actually we try to spend as much time in the forums as we can depending on the projects that we are working on.iwantmorepower wrote:Funny how that works! Cole,
Look at your screen shot. Max ICP voltage 4.9. Next on the screen shot. Yes you have raised the all of the max tables that limit ICP in MPa, but thats not the duty cycle. I have seen your ICP vs Voltage table and the inverse. Seting the sensor to report 26MPa at 5 volts doesn't make sense. Especially when you are requesting 29MPa from 2000rpm to 2850 when mass fuel desired is 66 to 72 and then 30MPa from 3150 to 3600rpm. Go find the IPR duty cycle table. I will have regulated flow in liters vs rpm. That table is used to get the IPR duty cycle where it needs to be to generate the oil pressure needed to support the desired MPa. Then the control loop takes over. P1211 and P1212 aren't in the 2006 Diesel PC/ED. But P2290 is. Injector Control Pressure Too Low. Possible Causes - Actual pressure is less than commanded for a specified time. Like when the customer gets on it and the tune is calling for x ammount of MPa but the sensor isn't reporting that its getting there because either the control loop can't get it there since its starting point for the IPR duty cycle was too low OR you have requested an MPa value that it could never get to. P2290 Fault sets when actual pressure is less than the commanded by a specified value. Greater than 1 MPa (4-5 ICP commanded), greater than 3 MPa error (6-27 MPa ICP commanded).

RE: Re: New tune 9R04 U7165
Revision 17 tunes did have the inverse functions like that, r20 they were changed so at 5v it was @ 30MPa Hint thats why r20 didnt have this issue. What the r20 tunes lacked was throttle response, they also had less injection timing. I will have engineering check but none of the previous tunes with the commanded 26MPa at 5v should of been imported into the predator. If they were they will take them out.

PSDPlayer if your reading files, what calibration did you read and what revision was the tool?

RE: Re: New tune 9R04 U7165
Mike W sent me screen shots of the 100hp VXCF4_100hp.frg back on 5/23 calibration was vxcf4a2. I just spoke with him and he told me the table that I was referencing Desired Injector Pressure Feedforward is still stock. Which is the table I mentioned a few posts earlier.

Cole,
I talked with Phil at Diablosport and he is going to give you my email address. Mike W also has my email address. As far as I can tell, the email address in my account is correct.

Hi folks:
I am seeking advice. I own predator ""2005 6.0" tool UPC#106117. It contains serial #200073d, part u7165pcm 6.0. I just upgraded the tool with the latest predator revision 9r04. I just installed this latest tune into my 2003 Excursion 6.0PSD. I first installed the 100hp tune as I am seeking the best fuel mileage. Immediately, I noticed that the engine surged and stumbled significantly during light acceleration. My filters are good and I am a gentle driver. I have not had these symptoms with previous tunes. Any ideas what has gone wrong??...barryd
