still got ping

I put the stock tune back on yesterday because I had to take it to the dealer for oil change and wanted them to flash the pcm for any updates. I reinstalled the 87 octane tune and now I have some bad ping when I floor it (always at very high RPM). Before this, I have been monitoring my LTFT's for a month now and have a good average that's between the -2 to 0 range and realize I don't need to change my injector slope.

I JUST finished cleaning my Mass airflow sensor and have the same tank of gas as before (that didn't cause ping with the same tune installed).

Now i'm confused as to why i'm getting ping. Is it just because the PCM has to learn the tune again and that ping might be a temporary issue? I fill up at chevron everytime.

just noticed mike's post from the Denali thread.. "if you have added a CAI or any other mods, ensure there are no leaks after the MAF."

I was looking at my K&N intake install the other day when I was cleaning my MAF sensor and kinda thought that the tunnel (whatever you call it) was kind of loose as it connected to the intake part of the engine. Maybe I'm getting air in that and it's not on tight. I did wiggle it around and tried to push it in and tighten everything up, but maybe I made it worse the other day and that's why i'm getting a lot of ping now.

I was going 71 mph at 1847 RPM (102 degrees outside). I noticed some KR during the cruise controlled speed. KR was hitting every now and then at .78 or 1.4's. I noticed a few KR's hit all the way at 4.00

The ping is still bad when I open it up.

I'm thinking of going negative 3 on the injector slope (at least). Any thoughts on this?

Should not have KR under cruise, if so, it is likely false....do you have any exhaust work done?
Try restoring the stock tune and see if it shows KR under cruise conditions...

no extra exhaust work only besides the dealer putting my catback dual magnaflow on about 2 years ago.

Seemed like the KR did not have any consistancy when it happened. It was usually really quick and anywhere between .88 and 0. It only got above that a few times. I haven't seen this yet. I took off the K&N intake just now and made sure every connection was VERY tight and all the way in.

Yup, I still have it under stock tune only when the cruise is on and the cruise control kicks in a bit more while going up hill (ONLY get KR up hill)

maybe pause this thread for now... I'm running some cleaner in the tank right now and shouldn't be logging anything until this tank is gone. Could be the culprit of the problem after talking with Mike. You rock, thanks!
