STOCK 2001 MUSTANG GT PREDATOR SHIFTING HELP

i've experimented and its been unsuccessful each time. have read and post that are similar to the issue i'm trying to address.

unfortunately there weren't many mustangs available in the area when i was in the market for one. i have a stock mustang gt 4.6 and i have played with the predator for several hours since i received it. my goal was to make it sound like a manual. i was told that changing rev limits and shift points would acheive the desired result. i've played wit each and every setting but alast i think i may just go back stock. question for all automatic transmission owners, IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE AN AUTO TRANNY SHIFT SIMILAR TO A MANUAL TRANNY. my shift points for 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 are all 6050 but they shift out like they did stock. rev limit 6050 but doesn't seem to make a difference. HELP PLEASE! A LOTTA MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT I FEEL LIKE I CAN'T USE.

unfortunately it will never sound like a manual I think because you can hear the pitch change when the clutch is depressed and the revs change. In my 97 automatic I had the sportchip to change the shift points, and I had a superior shift kit installed (it's not like a B&M shift kit where you can manually shift). I love it, but it still didn't sound like a manual. I do know that B&M has finally come out with a shift kit for the AODE, but I haven't tried it yet.

But you can use the Predator for other tuning things that will make it worth it's money. Timing for one, and if you change your rear gears it will be very handy.

I agree with this post, you'll never get it to sound like a manual, change your rear end gears and it will almost feel like a manual, you'll even be able to chirp 2nd. 4/10 gearing might give better results.

With the sportchip and 3.73 gears in my 97 AODE I could chirp 1st and 2nd without even trying to.

you will need to adjust your torque modulation. This is Ford's version of "torque management" and it reduces power output significantly in between shifts. But, this strategy also reduces the wear and tear on the automatics. Your AODE in your 97 doesnt have this reduced power strategy like your 2000 does.

I am not sure where you are headed but i do know that my 03' GT. now runs pretty good after bumppin up th e"shift firmness" at th e"part throttle" and WOT. But if it was me I left the adjustment s my overdrive alone. better yet i turn it off when i am manually shifting my automatic and bangging thru the gears. depending on the road i can chirp 3rd gear. So good luck on your adjustments. You gotta pay to play.

I have 4.10's in the rear on my '02 GT Auto and I've adjusted the shift firmness and another setting I believe it's called shift pressure. While cruising slower like through a parking lot it shifts like stock, but when at WOT it slams you back into the seat with every shift and will kick sideways a little in 2nd and get a big chirp in 3rd
