Car won't start

Post by roguegoat »

Part no. - U7191
Rev. - 8r09
2005 Pontiac GTO

I'm new at this and might have done some thing wrong. Today I was adjusting the enrichment setting to lean the car out a little (2%) in the
low and high rpms. When I was done I proceeded to save it and that's
when I started the problem, the car stop running (died). I unplugged the
Predator unit and tried to start the car up, but would not start or even
turn over (dead). The instrument started to give me messages saying
check oil, fuel guage error and service engine soon. So, I thought that
if tried to reinstall the program that solve the problem, but I got a message
saying "unable to read p/n of first calibration file". I was browsing the form
and notice that Redls2gto had the same problem back in Oct. 15, 2007 but
couldn't find what he did to fix his problem. What do I do to fix the problem or what did I do wrong?

So, can you be more specific as to what happened...it sounds like the car was running after you flashed it, and then it simply shut off?

Either way, you'll want to call us with the tool powered up in the car today.

Thanks for responding Mike. Mike to answer your question about if the car was running when I saved it, the answer is yes and about 26% into the save it died. We have a four hour differents between us. I will contact you on Tuesday about 3:00 - 4:00 pm, your time. Do I contact you or some one else?

Thanks for your help 06MonteSS. I did disconnect the battery for about eight hours with no results and yes the car was running when I made the save.

Call and anyone that answers the phone can help.
We will try to force the stock tune back on the car, but I have a feeling it will not work since it did not save the whole thing.
Honestly, trying to tune while the car is running is a worst case scenario...may require a trip to the dealer for a reflash.

yeah, never never never have the car running when tuning it... you just need to have the key in the ON position in the ignition, but never ever start the car and have it running while writing tunes... you've most likely just effectively erased your ECM...

I just want to touch bases with you guy and let you know how things went this morning with support.
I got hold of support this morning about 6:30am (west coast time) and proceeded to force the stock tune.
Everything went real smooth and the car started right up, I'm so happy that she back on the road. I would
like to thank you guys very much for your support and understanding and the "never never never" will allways
come to mind when I do anything with the Predator tuner again.

Thank again, roguegoat
