Don't Buy one of these

Post by Jackedupmytruck »

I purchased one of these to unlock the potential of my truck and I hate to say it but don't bother buying one these. I am surprised that a tool such as this is so sentistive to voltage change. I tried to load a program into my truck and all I ever got was interperter interrupted program failed. I contacted tech support after being on hold for (20) minutes I get told you need to put it on a battery charger, did that and the stupid thing still would not work. It backed up my truck program and won't reload it into the truck to get unmarried, so I can't even send this piece of garbage back for a refund... I guess you can tell I am not happy with it.

If you buy one good luck.

What vehicle year/make/model was this?
Is there any aftermarket electronics in the vehicle?
Was the key in the run position, with all the doors shut?

i dont know what vehcile you have but i just got one for my 04 gmc 6.6 duramax and this thing is totally frickin awsome. you need to make sure you follow the directions exactly, make sure no other power is on and all doors and dome lights ,and daytime running lights are off, including the radio and any cell phone chargers ect. and the key is turned on to the run position but engine not running,i had that problem too, just got in a hurry to upload tunes and wasnt payin attention.

Following the directions

Post by Jackedupmytruck »

It is a 2005 Chevy, crew cab, dually, 6.6L Turbo Diesel. Yes I made sure that everything was disconnected or turned off. I took out the three fuses in the engine compartment, the one in side in the fuse compartment, disconnected the power amps, disconnected the trailer brake, disconnected the transmission co-pilot. I made sure the dome light was off and the doors closed also. I had the trickle charger connected for two hours and then tried it once again, still same thing **No I got a new one this time it said incorrect format** then it went back to the (interperter inturrupted) program failed. Okay so now tell me what should I do???

Since I am on here let me ask the question again do I have to take out all of those fused every time I try to upload a tune program into the truck?

So did I follow the directions good enough, I want to divorce the programmer from the truck so I can return it but it won't stay alive long enough to get to that point.

It won't do anything without the key being turned to the on position other than ask if the key is turned on.

When it does try and upload a program it makes the truck go through a series a clicks before it fails. Does this tell you anything?

did you make sure that your daytime running lights were off ? and emergency brake was set ? also if you have on star you need to disable that too. just from from what i have heard. i by no means am an expert with this tunner like i said i have only had mine for a few days, but from the gains i have seen already it was worth every pennie. and these guys at diablo are usually pretty good about solving problems. like i said driving my 6.6 duramax now is like driving a totally new truck, stick it out and let these guys help you fix it in the long run once you get it working right you will love it.

Making sure things turned off

Yes I made sure the daytime running light were off, and yes the parking brake was set also. My truck does not have on-star in it so I don't have to worry about getting a signal from them. Do you take out your fuses each time you want to change your tune program? From what I have heard from people is that they don't have to remove any fuses.

well i didnt pull out any fuses when i installed mine. i dont have on star and from i have been reading that was the only thing you needed to pull fuses out for. as far as your dash stuff goes mine did that too gauges went back and fourth stuff like that? it diffently sounds like something is going on that shouldnt be. my install went super easy only took about 10 mins. have you tried to maybe go in and change parameters or anything or can you even get that far? maybe try disconnecting + batt cable for a few mins then try again if your battteries have full charges you dont need to have a charger on it and maybe the charger cycling is messing it up i dont know just a few thoughts. also try the dieselgarage.com alot of those guys are pretty knowledgeable about this kinda of stuff.

I totally agree with you

I totally agree with you. I bought one of these for my 2000 Camaro SS and have sent it back 2 times to try and get it to work in my car. Did everything I was supposed to do. Called mike on there tech support line, bought a new battery, Reflashed my computer to make sure it was at the stock setting, I don't have on star but Diablo techies insisted that I did and wasn't pulling the correct brakers. sent it back 2 weeks ago for a new unit. Still haven't received it back and I leave messages on their voicemail for a tracking #. Still no word I think they are ignoreing me now. Stay away from this programmer. I never had a problem with superchips and I should have bought one for my camaro.

This does not sound like a fuse issue, however they should be pulled to be safe for now.
Is there any other electronics in this truck, like a remote starter, or a trailer brake? Either of these things will cause these types of issues if not disconnected.

Thanks

You have got to be kidding me! I have a '05 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0L. I had a Superchips and it was OK. After advice from a few friends and a LOT or research, I bought the Predator. I basically wanted to remove the TM. Best thing I ever bought.

Superchips has nothing on these guys.

As for taking fuses out - I removed them the first few times I changed anything. After reading the manual a few times I noticed the part that said "if" there was an interuption the programmer would have to start over. I've stopped pulling fuses and haven't had an "interruption" yet!

ya know i totally agree with you kidrick for the money this has been the best dang spent money for HP, yet and everyone i talk to that has, or has had other stuff like chips and stuff agree. unless you want to spend $600,$700 or more this is the best for your dollar. i had trouble 3 times installing a tune and all 3 times it was a power interuption, rolled the window down, had the radio on, opened the door stupid operator error. not the programer fault. and from all the other post's i have been reading the guys at diadlo have gone above and beyond to help with problems try some of these other hp tunner guys and their not near as coperative or helpful.

If I did not reply to your emails, I must apologize as we have a bit of a SPAM issue here sometimes. You do however have my attention here, and again I am willing to help. Could I get you to post up the RMA# so I can get the status for you?

We are working on updating the phone system here as Brian has not been able to check his voicemail for a week or two now.

Thanks
