changing parameters frequently bad??

Post by rt4drizzt »

just wondering how often can u change parameters in a tune without hurting the engine? and how often do u need to set shift firmness because unlike other parameters, this setting doesnt get tagged in the predator that it was set. any input?

Once you set firmness, it is set until you restore the stock tune.
You can adjust things as often as you like.

I think I heard that the EPROM in the PCM is good for 10,000 re-writes.

10,000 rewrites means you will never wear it out. Besides, i bet the diagnostic port plastic is only good 5,000 before it breaks for shorts out...lol

That's why I use a m/f OBDII extension cable to plug into.

I got mine at scantool.net. It's a 6-foot cable with a right-angle connector for the OBD port and a straight connector for the Predator to plug into.
J1962M Right Angle to J1962F, 6ft (144301) = $16.95

I routed the cable behind the center stack and leave the Predator side dangling near the glovebox.
