Predator Logs ok, but never downloads to DataViewer

Predator Logs ok, but never downloads to DataViewer
I have a problem with extracting data from my Predator.
I have a U7135 running 9r04, logging data from an '07 SRT8 Charger.
I have logged data onto the Predator and can play it back on the Predator, but I cannot seem to download the log to Dataviewer running 3.1.7.5. Dataviewer says that it connects and begins communicating with the Predator, but never gets any further. I eventually (like 10mins later) get an error message stating "Cannot find 'res://C:\Program Files\DiabloSport\Dataviewer 3.1\Dataviewer.exe/WELCOME.HTM'. Make sure the path or internet address is correct." However, when I open DS Downloader, the Predator connects and will send or retrieve tunes to/from my PC. So the USB cable is working, but it appears that Dataviewer is not.
Any thoughts?
(Updated: I have noticed in Dataviewer that in the bottom right corner it will say "connected" and then change to "Problem Detected". However, I can't seem to get any type of error message from this.)
Thank you!
Eddie

That is quite strange. If you have Windows Vista, try right clicking on the shortcut and "Run as an Adminstrator".

please look in My Documents\DataViewer for a runtime.txt file. Once this is located please send post it. We will be able to get an idea of what is going on.

John- I am running Windows XP
Cole- I'm not positive (because the laptop is at my office) but I don't think that I have any runtime.txt file in the Dataviewer folder. I will check tomorrow. If I do find it, what exactly do you mean to "send post it"?

I checked, and do not find a 'runtime.txt' file in the Dataviewer folder.
There are 3 subfolders (titled "Dashboards", "logs", and "vehicles"). Within those folders are .dsh files (Dashboards), F150_parking_lot.txt, F150_short_wot.txt, gun_it.txt, and wot_06_C6.txt (in logs folder), and the vehicles folder is empty. If you are looking for one of the .txt files mentioned I can email you those, but there isn't a "runtime.txt" speifically.

Are you looking under My Documents or Program Files? The data file directory structure gets copied over to My Documents as the last step of the install. The runtime.txt will appear under My Documents.

I checked under both My Documents and within the Program files. There were some more files within the program files folder (like .dll stuff mostly) but still no runtime.txt file.

Laptop at the office... does your company install any kind of security applications that might be interfering with the DataViewer? This is a very strange symptom that I have not heard of before.

When I have been running the software with the Predator connected to the laptop it has been at home. I don't think that security is an issue, but it's possible. What should I look for with regards to the security stuff? On my laptop it's pretty standard Norton anti-virus/firewall stuff.
I also have redownloaded and installed the Dataviewer and DS Downloader in an attempt to get it to work, but to no avail.

Ok, at home that should not be a problem. Is the user account you log in at home an Administrator account?
Also, check the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) settings as detailed in this thread.

John-
First off, let me say how much I apprecaite your time and help with this topic!!
I checked the DEP settings as you mentioned in the linked thread. It was set as the first/correct option. So I don't think this is the reason.
Then, I checked the authority level of the login account I was using and it is set to "Debugger User" which isn't at the Admin level. This is my office login, so I'm going to leave it alone. However, I have my home login user account that IS set to an Administrator level. When I get home tonight I'll try running the Dataviewer under that login and see what we get. This could be the problem!!

Ok, sounds good. Let me know how it works either way.

John-
Not being logged into my pc as an Administrator level user was the problem. I logged some data this morning. Installed the DataViewer and DS Downloader on the other (non-office network) user account that has Admin. rights. Connected the Predator and everything worked like a charm! Now, I gotta find that thread that has the spreadsheet of what all the PID abbreviations mean so that I know what I'm looking at!!
Thanks again for your help with this!!
