2003 silverado u7195 w/5.3 absolute dog
My 2003 silverado w/ a K&N CAI, 5.3 and the U7195 is an absolute dog. In second gear the truck just makes noise no real power and gets worse from there. I have the LTFT's at -1.78. I use the 87 tune ( I have tried the 93 for three tanks of gas, but no real improvement). I've had this thing for over a year and tried everything I could without any real change. The truck just doesn't want to pull in any other gear but first. Please help, I'm tired of hearing the CAI and not going anywhere. I do have the latest revision( I asked about it last year, don't have the number handy) And please don't tell me to get it dynoed, it simply isn't an option here. Thanks.

have you cleaned your MAF lately?
Yes, I've also cleaned airfilter, new plugs, fuel filter and I'm running mobil 1 oil in everything I can. the truck runs fine, just seems to bog and not pull well at all. the truck has stock size tires and a 180 degree thermostat. I'm going to pull the predator and try it stock for a while. I can't believe others haven't had this problem.I'm ready to get rid of the tuner altogether, seems like a waste of money.....

in addition to what canuck asked, you may also want to go into the adjustable parameters to remove the torque management. torque management will cause bogging in certain situations. Keep in mind though, that diablosport has removed some of it their diablo tunes. turning it off completely will/can cause transmission damage if done in certain situations like towing or driving very aggressively often.
I have a feeling though that you are getting some knock retard.

I'm aware of the K&N oil, so I go lightly. Currently I show no KR and I've shut off the first two TM settings while leaving the upshift reduction. The LTFT are where I want them and I've tried to play with various PE settings. Curiously, I ran the truck today without the predator installed and the bogging was a lot less, the truck even seemed to downshift easier and pull in the midrange a lot better. I've been fooling with this problem for over a year and I'm convinced I don't have the fueling right. By the way, thanks for helping.

Not sure if you can save logs with your model, but you can monitor some engine parameters. RPM, LTFT Bank 1 and 2, Command Throttle, and TSKR are the main ones to watch. You want your LTFTs in the 0 to -2 range. You use the Injector Slope adjustment to achieve that. Maybe give it a try to see where you are at. If you can't save a log, get someone to watch and write down some LTFT #s to get an average. If you can save you can convert the log to a .csv file in Dataviewer and then take it to DSlogRedux and it will tell you the adjustments to make. If you have to do the average thing, we'll try to help here.
EXCELLENT!! ^^^^^^

I can't log data, but I've got the LTFT at -1.78. I've had the IS at -2 (smaller injectors, more fuel) for a few months, seems to be the best so far, but still isn't right. I have moved it up and down in the past and left it for a few weeks, but the current set up has been the best so far. I was wondering about the downshift. I have moved it down in the past to shift down earlier, but with the stock tune the truck shifts sooner and easier. Could this lack of downshifting be the bogging, maybe the revs aren't right for the current gear and throttle position?

So far no change. I reset the parameters and tried in vain to get the truck acting right. My truck will not downshift to first with the predator and still bogs horribly. I'm at my wits end with this thing. I really want to get it working right, but it seems almost hopeless. In all my years working on vehicles, many of them very finicky street rods, you'd think this would be easy.
welcome to the computer age...

Yes, I did pull the predator (earlier post on this thread) and the bogging was a lot less. I also felt like it downshifted much earlier and easier, without having to bury my foot, keeping the truck in the power. I've tried adjusting shift points, etc, but had little to no effect. Going up a hill today about 40mph, I buried my foot. The truck should accelerate, but just makes noise with the predator, no increase in speed. Without the predator, the truck will pull and accelerate. I also noticed the truck doesn't bog as much when its cold, but as it warms up the bogging reappears. I'm fairly certain something is out of whack, maybe the predator or maybe my settings? Anyway, thanks for trying, I'm willing to try whatever to make it run right.
