There is no way in the world that a 8r18 tune could hold a candle to a new 9r07 tune...but what do we know???

ummm, what sort of input do you want?
Is 9r07 "better"? I'd take Mike's word on that. They wrote it. I'm convinced they're constantly trying to improve their product to stay ahead of the competition and increase sales. Updates are updates. They add features and fix bugs and tweak things to make them better based on feedback and finding corner cases in the field. So for existing features and function the trend is going to be constant improvements. There are very few things that are just different or have been removed.
Only thing I know of that's been removed is the capability to turn off knock sensors (I think maybe that happened before r18). Originally you could disable your knock sensors. That was useful for those with false knock and willing to take the risk of running their engine without that protection. The problem was that maybe 10% of users convinced themselves they had false knock. Of those, maybe 1% actually had false knock (due to aftermarket valve springs, etc) instead of real knock. 99% of those actually had no clue and no clue of the implications. Some disabled their knock sensors and some of their engines blew up. I think Diablo decided that since 99.9% of their users didn't have the expertise to be disabling knock sensors they removed that feature from the handheld. You can still get that done for you by a CMR tuner.
There have been some changes that felt different. Doesn't mean they were "better" but some people preferred the previous feel. So the feel of shifts has changed a bit. In general the shifts have been improved. Just because a shift feels harder doesn't necessarily mean it's superior to one that doesn't feel so hard. Then there's always the tradeoff between performance and duty cycle.
The canned tunes are a "generic" product meant to best serve the largest number of their customers. Their goal is to give you the most performance while still staying firmly in the "safe" or conservative zone. Cars and mods are going to vary a bit and they have to (statistically) cover the outliers. There really isn't any chance of some secret "hot" tune slipping out by accident that's noticeably going to out perform all the others (even if it did it would be at the cost of increased risk or decreased longevity). If you want to get your car tweaked more towards the edge of the safe zone or are willing to trade significant longevity or want personal preference modifications you need to get a CMR tuner to do it for you.
Surely there may be some differences from one release to the next. As with any software or changes there is always the chance of bugs but Diablo seems to do a good job of testing/QA before releasing. There may be adjustments made a little to far in one direction or the other while they optimize things but these are not going to be large given the maturity of the product and size of the user base over that time.
Those are all release to next release issues. There have been a lot of releases between r18 and 9r07 so it's a pretty sure thing that 9r07 is going to be significantly "better" than r18 in many many ways. If you're very familiar with r18 and know just what it does for you and there's something you'd like to see improvement on or have a personal preference that you can't tweak with the handheld then ask about that. Otherwise wait a few weeks to hear people's impressions.
What input are you looking for?

RE: is the 9r07 better then the r18 tune?
I would agree that 9r07 is probably better than r18 as I remember it. I know 9r07 is better than 9r05 and I like 9r05, with the exception of a slower launch. The 9r07 has a much better launch, improved my MPG by 1-2 MPG on my 38-mile drive to work, and (in my opinion) the shifts feel better/cleaner than 9r05 at WOT.
Thank you, DiabloSport for continuing with the improvements of this product and not letting us get "lost in the shuffle."

Is it better then the r20?
Thanks

Was the fan settings changed?
My fans keep coming on around 203, instead of the 219 or so.
I have always left my fans at the stock settings, but now they seem to be coming on sooner.

RE: is the 9r07 better then the r18 tune?
Went to 9r07 the other day from 9r05, was expecting some changes. Seems a little softer to me, even the launching. I thought maybe it was my tuning so i zero'd out my fuel and tried it, felt even worse. Did a quick log and its still knocking like crazy with the 93 cai tune running 94 octane chevron. So I added in some fuel like I had it before, feels better but I dont think any real improvement over the last tune. Ill give it some time and see how it is.
