Unable to connect to U7146 with PC

I've got a u7146 with 7r50d. I'm unable to connect with any of the diablosport programs.
Using the help files, I disabled my firewall and anti-virus software. Used hyperterminal and connected ok. Message:

Tried baud rates 115200 and 57600. set on predator, program and control panel. Com ports set correctly. Tried my PC and laptop. Laptop using usb adapter. Tried hyperterminal on laptop only.
What am I missing?
No problems programming my 01 Mustang GT.
I just want to be able to save my tune files, data logs, and maybe update the crom file.

If you are using usb to serial to connect the tuner to the computer this should pop up under Ports (Comm and LPT) - "Prolific Usb-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3)". Right click on it and press properties, then on Port Settings set bits per seconds to 115200. Then on DS Downloader remove auto connect on the option menu. Then you should be able to select the the correct com whether it is com1, com2, or com3. If nothing pops up under Ports (Comm and LPT) try unplugging your tuner, resetting your computer, and do not plug back it in until the computer restart. If the computer still does not find it then Port Com 3 may already be used by another device installed in your computer. Usually what uses this port could be a standard phone modem or such other device. You should remove any unused devices from your computer and uninstall them from device manager to free this port up. Once this is done try setting up the tuner to your computer again.

The hyperterminal test proves that the PC can receive data from the tool, but not that the cable will allow transmit of data from the PC to the tool. Usually this indicates a driver or configuration problem with the USB to serial cable.

See this thread for some help and suggestions. If you have a prolific cable and are running Windows Vista then it may help this problem to switch to the XP drivers for the cable. This sounds strange, I know, but there have been a couple of instances of this very problem where the vista drivers on vista were the problem.

Got it working. I changed the settings in xp's firewall for each program but forgot to reset the baud rate in the tuner. After resetting the baud rate, worked like a charm.
I may have actually got it working before that, and didn't know it. I expected to see that the predator was connected in the bottom of the window, in dsdownloader, before trying to transfer files. But it doesn't connect until file transfers are started.
