E85 Flexfuel

Post by Jetsetterak »

I have question regarding the Diablosport U7192 , for the performance tune that requires premium fuel can E85 (103 octane) be substituted for premium ( 91 octane). My vehicle is a 2007 GMC Sierra , 5.3L flex-fuel engine ,8th vin # Z. Thanks in advance

Yes, the E85 functionality of your motor is retained using the programmer.

I’m asking for me and everyone else regarding the Diablosport U7195.

Making a tune for the E85 Flexfuel?

Truck spec: 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, 4.8L Engine, and 8th VIN #V.

Thanks!

Funny ...

So, when can I get a tune of the E85 from you guys at Diablosport.

I did get more information from Dynousa. $100.00 for a custom tune and I was told that I'm able to switch from Gas to E85 with no problem.
Good Guys…

When did that show up?
OK, well, there you go, E85 for the masses!

Thanks

Don't E85 compatible OEM designs utilize some different sealing and O-ring materials in the fuel system? I thought there was an issue with ethanol degrading "conventional" O-rings and other rubberized seals, or is this just a false concern based on an old wive's tale?

Mike -

You probably missed this post after Holiday as it was marked answered, but what are your thoughts on the fuel system materials compatability with E85 that I asked above...

All the info I have regarding the subject lead me to believe what you said at the end...old wives tale.

Thanks

All of our research shows that as long as the vehicle is newer than '92 to '94 (depending on mfr) we will have no problems with any component- The injector o-rings are viton and all other fuel lines are made from synthetic rubber, which is, for the most part, compatible with any ethanol. The natural rubber will erode over time, but this does not seem to be an issue on the newer stuff. There are ALOT of "local mechanics" that will tell you otherwise, but it is all heresay (on newer stuff) We've converted 600 of these vehicles to date, and more and more every week... There is a bunch of info on our other site, including a few engine teardowns with high mileage NON-Flex fuel vehicles
