Question about U7195

Post by WVUAVY »

Was looking at buying a used U7195. I've read conflicting information on different message boards regarding the ability to turn off the O2 sensors after the cats on my '03 Avalanche 1500.

With the U7195 am I able to turn off those sensors or am I only able to tune them?

Also, the seller says the U7195 has been 'returned to stock and 'flashed' with the latest updates'. Does this mean that it is now 'unlocked' and can be used by my vehicle?

Thanks and sorry for the all the questions!

you need to find out what revision number this tool is on. that will determine the answers to your questions.

when it boots up to the main menu, there will be a number at the top of the screen.. a 1.xx, 2.xx or 9rxx number...

need to find out what that number is.

Will the revision number tell me if the unit is unlocked?

Thanks.

No, you will not know that FOR SURE until it is plugged into your car, and usually, if it is locked at that point it is too late....which is why we do not recommend buying used Predators!!

nope... but it will help to determine if it could be unlocked just by restoring the original backup... certain revisions do NOT unlock, even after the original backup has been restored...

also, the seller told you he flashed it with the latest revision update???

then he's lying, cuz the 7195 is NOT internet updatable, and he can NOT flash an update to it...

also, the 7195's are not made anymore... they were replaced by the newer 7193's...

the latest revision the 7195 could possibly be is revision 2.04.

so... assuming that the seller DID actually restore the original backup to his vehicle and the predator is indeed unlocked now:

#1 - you will NOT be able to log any data...

#2 - you can NOT and WILL not be getting any new updates for it, since it is an obsolete tool... has been replaced by the 7193...

#3 - you CAN disable the O2 codes for the sensors when you remove your cat's.

haha that was my next question. What if the cats are in but gutted? I'm assuming that makes no difference?

Disabling the codes, is that disabling the back o2 sensors or just hiding the codes?

Thanks, Mike.

Does the Diablo actually disable the back o2 sensors or just hide the P0420/P0430 codes?

Want to make sure it will do what I'm assuming it does.

it just disables the codes so it doesn't throw an SES light on the dash

you still need to have the rear O2's installed, and connected to the wiring harness for it to work.
