2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle wit
U7192, PREDATOR REVISION IS 9r03 last updated 8-5-08, but i have never updated, still factory fresh!!! 2006 CADILLAC ESCALADE AWD 6.0
RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
Also pings on high performance tune with premium fuel, just not as bad... Do i need to get that cable and update my tuner with the latest tunes, is there a fix for this problem with the new updates, or will i have to manually adjust spark, timing, etc... Open to any suggestions... I've downloaded all of the latest updates to my desktop, so i'm ready to rock-n-roll...

First thing I would do is monitor KR on the live data menu, to see if it is actually knocking, then try a different brand of fuel...

Stay away from Shell like it was the plague.
RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
P.S. what's KR, this is my first rodeo doing this, how do i get to live data monitoring, do i need to install the program via a cable??? I don't think it has anything to do with the fuel... It doesn't do it at all on stock program, only on 87 and premium program!!! Way worse on 87... I have an intake, throttle-body spacer and flowmaster, that's it, nothing crazy!!! Also, the manual makes it sound like you can modify your "STOCK PROGRAM", but the only ones i've been able to get that far on is with your tunes... Thanks for all your help, i really want this thing to run right because i like your programmer so much!!!
RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
Wait a minute, what's this about staying away from shell like it was the plague??? I've used shell for along time, my 500hp supercharged F-150 runs great on shell v-power, and it's chipped of course, and cadillac runs great on all grades of shell with "STOCK TUNE", just not with any performance tune??? Also, i switched to Chevron w/ techron for a while and no difference??? I'm thinking something in the tune needs tweaked, but i've never messed with that stuff, only used programmed tunes...

Generally Shell gas is bad for KR (Knock Retard), Pinging. More people have problems with it, than have good results with it.
Start vehicle, plug in Predator, Diagnostic, Live Data, (I believe) GM Short. Drive, Watch for Total Spark Knock Retard.

AAAAAHHHHH....
have you done any data logs with your predator, and monitored the KR (knock retard) ???
Shell gas is crap, and causes all kinds of KR issues, thus robbing you of your full timing/spark advance and performance...
you may not be able to HEAR it, but the knock/ping is there...
change gas brands...
should use mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco, or bp...
what makes the difference between brands is the additives they use in their fuel (or DON'T use, as the case may be)...

Shell has lots of detergents, to keep things clean, but from what I know about gas, detergent doesn't create HP when burned.
RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
Thanks guys, i'll let you know how it works out...

RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
Is it really ok to start/drive my vehicle while predator is plugged in??? Thought it said somewhere in manual "NOT" to do this, but is this the only way to check for knock retard, and when i do, what do i look for, haven't done this before... Was also thinking of purchasing the new E-85 PROGRAMMER, is it better, more power, better features, etc... Or will i not notice enough of a diff, vehicle has been knocking/pinging before E-85 hit the pumps nationwide??? The noise i get sounds like a rapid "TICKING" when i get on it, not as noticeable off throttle as when "ON IT!!!" I programmed back to stock and noise goes completely away, do you think i've caused any damage, or is it even possible, THANKS FOR ANYONE WHO'D LIKE TO HELP, I OWE YA!!!

You can have the Predator plugged in while running, just don't install a tune while running. You are correct you need to have it plugged in to monitor the engine parameters.
RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
What's the deal with U7192 not being updateable, but says on web-site that it is??? I just went out and bought a USB to SERIAL cable, plus a 12 volt adapter for power, and come to find out, it's too old of a model... Funny thing is, it says right there on the web-site that U7192 is updateable!!! Kind of confusing, what's your take on this, thanks...
RE: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
Can U7192 be updated via serial cable and laptop "OR NOT"???

Re: 2006 Cadillac Escalade "PINGS" bad on throttle
If your Predator is 9Rxx then you have the new hardware that supports updating, datalogging, etc.NEET-IT wrote:U7192, PREDATOR REVISION IS 9r03 last updated 8-5-08, but i have never updated, still factory fresh!!! 2006 CADILLAC ESCALADE AWD 6.0
If you are unable to update the predator or transmit a datalog to your home/office PC then you obviously have a software or USB driver issue. You need to read some of the DSDownloader articles in the DSDownloader section of the forums. If you still cannot figure it out on your own, then it is best to contact tech support during normal business hours (EST) to diagnose your issue.
Bottom line, you have the newest hardware that DOES support the new features. IF you had 2.xx revision then you would have had the OLD hardware and therefore would be SOL temporarily. But, you have the 9Rxx revision which means you have the newest hardware.
