O2 Sensor Errors - Fix In the Works for U7135 on 2008 5.7L?

Post by dcram71 »

So is there a fix in the works for the rear 1/2 and 2/2 error codes (P0138 & P0158) coming on, even with the rear O2 sensor disable engaged? I have tried to disable the rear O2's via the handheld using "Modify Tune", but the errors come regardless of this. I have also had Steve from RDP disable the rear O2's via the CMR software in my CMR tune, also to no avail. The errors still come back daily - even multiple times daily. The Chrysler dealer has been over all the wiring related to the O2's as well as replace the rear O2 sensors. The errors still come back. When I check the handheld to view the tune, the tune indicates with an * that the O2 parameter has been changed. Once selected, the parameter displays that the change is set to "ON" and not "OFF". It seems the tune resets it's O2 parameter to "ON" regardless of whether it was set to "OFF" via the CMR software or the handheld. Oddly and according to the dealer's scan, the codes for both rear O2 sensors come on at the exact same moment in time. This would seem to pretty much pin the errors' occurrence on the Predator software and not both of the O2's failing at the exact same time, and repeatedly. This is a big issue to me as the check engine light stays on most of the time, obscuring other pertinent codes as they would normally appear in a timely manner to the driver. It also makes the remote start via the key fob useless as the car will start and them shut off when a check engine light is present. My current driving pattern has become: start the car and drive off to work or wherever, CEL comes one within a few minutes maybe 80% of the time, arrive at my destination and shut off the car, pull out Predator and clear the P0138/P0158 codes and/or reload tune with modify parameter set for rear O2's "OFF". I then come back and repeat the whole process to drive home and agin for any other trips I make on a daily basis. I have since quit using remote start as it's no good to start the car twice every time I drive it. My other option is to just leave the CEL on all the time, but then I never know if other errors are on (threw a P0128 thermostat error) the other day, but I have no idea when it happened as the CEL had been on for a few days i.e.: no way to troubleshoot that one or any others as I'd never know when they were occurring. OK, enough from me. Any fix coming?

I believe it is v9r08. It's a CMR that has been updated with the current revisions for v9r08 at least. It has a tune which my tuner has been tweaking since v9r04 this Spring.

Can you post the tune here so we can take a look at it?

Well, 48 hours and 4 drives later and no CEL. The tune tweak worked Mike. Sweet!
