My friend just purchased a 2006 F250 6.0L Diesel. It does have a CAI. He is considering getting the U7165(this is the listed tool) to help bump MPG and performance. I am just looking for any feed back on the use of this tool and tunes on this vehicle so he can think his choices over. I am guessing he will only use the lower HP tune(s), since he wants to retain all his OEM towing capabilities. Does anyone have real world MPG numbers when using any one of the 3 tunes? Any opinions(good or bad) about the tool and use with this vehicle? Thanks,

Well, there will be mixed feedback here, as we have had guys in the field complain of lack of mileage gains, but if you look at the number of units we have out there, compared to the small handfull of complaints we get, you can see it is a good product.marcoengineering wrote:My friend just purchased a 2006 F250 6.0L Diesel. Like I said, my roommate has an 06, and his mileage went up from avg. 13.5mpg stock to 17mpg with the economy tune....

Just a note to all, my friends MPG was down to around 11-12 in the city which he though was way to low, so after reading on this site about the fuel filters affecting performance and MPG he changed them. With 50K(truck just bought used) on the truck they were packed with dirt and filth. Once both filters were changed, he is now getting like 14.5 MPG in the city, what an improvement due to just the fuel filters being dirty. My guess is that there were the original filters which had never been changed, so if you are unsure about how long your filters have been in there and MPG is down and performance is down, make sure to change these filters out, even for $50 for the set, at $5 a gallon, it will not take long to pay back the investment in clean filters.
