Help!!03 Silverado SS Ltft problem

Post by 03silveradoSS »

I have a 03 Silverado SS 6.0 for perf. mods I have K&N CAI,Granetti MAF's,throttle body spacer, shorty headers, magnaflow exhaust,160 thermostat. I just installed the predater 9175 and started playing with ltft set it at -5 and drove about 30miles my readings stayed a steady +10.079 at 60mph on the highway the temp is about 71 degrees outside. Since I live in CT the temps change all the time. How should I adjust my Ltft from here I know you guys say it needs to between 0 and -2. How do I get there? My short terms were coming up at anywhere from 9 to in the negatives is this bad? :?

So you are saying to reinstall the stock Maf and should i take off the screen or not. When I installed the aftermarket MAF i saw an increase in power and excelleration when I get Ltft's right on stock MAF will I prolly see the same gains?

Also if the lfts are still in the positives should I go that same amount but in the negatives while adjusting injector slope? What should my stft's look like number wise.

Leave the screen in the stock MAF, they are good for 500 HP. Don't worry about STFTs. Yes, if you are +2 you want to go -2 on Injectore slope. The goal is to get them 0 to -2. It takes 30-50 miles to relearn the new program so wait to relog.

k thanks. Is there anything I customize with the tuner that would get more power. I'm not sure if there is updated version for my predator by the looks of it no.

If you are adjusting LTFTs that's your power adjustment.

Yes, As canuck has mentioned you do not need an after market MAF unless you are well above the 500 hp. However I'll reinstall the stock back without any modifications, if you remove the screen on the stock one you are going to get a code that will force you to go to the dealership and pay money to fix that code. I agree with you an after market maf give you more response, but with your vehicle set up, you really don't need it, Just wasted money that could have had served a different purpose, but I wont criticize you, Just put back the stock maf. And your LFTF's will get where they need to be, plus it will be a lot easier for you, trust me. :-)

Yeah, I have read horror stories from guys on LS1GTO replacing their MAFs with an aftermarket one. Also, a lot of guys were "descreening" their stock MAFs, which leads to inaccurate readings to the ECM.

Thanks guys for all the help. I put the stock one on and set slope back to zero ran it for about 30 miles and checked out the ltft again at 65mph at 19% load on engine i was reading 7.865 and 6.3 pretty straight peice of highway and its 59 degrees outside so I re tuned it for -6 slope do you guys think this is correct.

Perfect, now wait and re log to see where your LFTF's are at. On the next it should be almost dead on. Now your reading look a lot better, One suggestion I can give you is log during the hottest time of the day, that way you can get a more straight forward reading.
