Tune Unavaliable for 2004 Silverado

Post by steele37031 »

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 4.8L V8 Automatic transmission, the 8th digit in the vin code is a "V", and I have a Diablo Predator programmer U7193. I can change the factory original GM settings with the predator but it does not allow me to install either of the performance tunes, the 89 octane or the regular premium fuel tune....

I go through all the steps and all and once I get to install tune it says, "tune not avaliable for this vehicle".. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I want to the 89 octane tune to work in this truck....

Almost forgot to add... I have installed shorty headers, true duals, a cold air intake, and if I can get this thing working correctly this truck will no longer have cats...

There is a calibration update available at the GM dealer which would allow you to use the Predator, or you could have the tool sent here and we could put a different revision on it to allow it to support your 'V' motor.

What is the version number of the calibration update that I should ask for at the GM dealer? Do dealers normally charge for a computer update?

BTW: The programmer that I am useing updated last week with version 2.10 does this not support V engines?

If you post up your VIN#, I'll look up any new calibration updates for your truck and let you know what to ask for.

The only update showing is one for new production...not sure what it was done to address.
Can you post up the first calibration ID listed in the tool?
I can compare that to the newest one and see if you can take the update.

Any way that I could manually set up my truck for the 89 performance tune, or is the a semi custom tune that you have on file that would work with my truck and the current set-up?

Just thought I might be able to get what I need without going through the hastle of either shipping this programmer back and or haveing to go get my local dealership to re-flash my ECM.

I am going to email you some instructions.
Please use them to save a copy of your original backup file and email it to me so we can try something.
