2004 F350 bucks at 1800rpm since update last night

Post by dani9678 »

Ok...After my previous post about updating the Predator , I finally got it updated from version 9r03 to 9r05. The P2290 code hasen't come back yet so far but now the truck wants to buck really bad at around 1800 rpm as if it can't make it's mind up weather to accel or decel until you increase the throttle to the point that you almost have to floor it to get past that point.
Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

I have also tried the 9r05. The trucks surges pretty bad while under light throttle just like the 9r04 version did for me. With both of these it is the 100hp tune that causes the problem, not the other two. When I use the 9r03 there are no problems with any of the tunes.

I had the 9r03 and it didn't surge but rather hestated instead and this was around 2700 rpm and it also thru a P2290 code. Now with the 9r05 update it surges pretty bad around 1800rpm but hasen't thrown a p2290 code yet.
With both versions it only does this in 100hp mode.

I've noticed that when the rpms pass the 1800 mark the engine seems to dump a lot of fuel for a split second and it belches out a cloud of black smoke as this happens. Once past that point it clears up. It is as if there is a spike in the fuel map in that rpm range. This happens when speeding up or coasting down past 1800rpms.

The truck wants to stall now. It stalled once yesterday (9/29/08) and stalled again this morning on the way to work when stopping at a traffic light. The P2290 code has resurfaced again also. This truck hasen't had any problems until I installed the 100hp tune and it all seems to do with fueling problems. The truck currently has 118,000 miles on it.

This will be the first time I have done what you ask so....do I need to put the truck back to stock first? What do I need to do in order for you to get the tune? Thanks

Brian,

R05 seems to be the same tune as you had given me in a custom tune which bucks and jerks from 1800 rpm to 2100 rpm. Is this the case? You had mentioned that this custom tune may need to be fine tuned for your vehicle but after 3 tries at the custom tune, I had to go back to the Diablo factory tunes. You had also mentioned that this custom tune should lower EGT's and get better fuel economy but it cannot get over 1800 rpm without launching you out of your seat which seems exactly like everyone is describing with the R05 tune. Hope this helps.

I changed back to the 60hp tune last night because my brother noticed that the truck started to chug again after he got around 80mph.
