U7194 Tuning Help
I have four new HP computers with Vista installed by HP from the factory.mikel wrote:We are still looking into what can be done with the datalogging issue, but we have not left the issue.
As for Vista, we have had the viewer working on several computers with Vista here. Did you update to Vista or was it a new computer with Vista already installed?
Two notebooks with Intel Dual core processors with Vista Home Premium , Build 6. One desktop with Intel Dual core processor with Vista Business [using domain server] and the Data Viewer 3.0.0.16 installation script will not even run on this one, and a HP desktop with a AMD Anthelon processor, Vista Home Premium , Build 6. Data Viewer 3.0 will not play the log files on any of these computers. The demo file gun_it.log supplied with Data Viewer will not run either.
E-mail me the actual installable binary you have on one of your internal computers and I will install it and test it. What version [build] of Vista are you running? Could the Data Viewer software in the download section of the web site be a different version that what you are using internally?
My shop computer is a HP notebook with Windows XP Professional and Data Viewer runs fine on it.

The logging issue has nothing to do with your personal computer.deereman wrote:wstaab, thanks for the info and I understand what you're saying about the PM's. Mike, my computer has XP Professional on it even though I have not experienced (yet) the 90 second issue mentioned by wstaab. Thanks,
The Predator has internal memory that allows you to monitor and log [record] PID's to view later or upload to your PC through Diablo's software Daiblo Sport Downloader [which runs fine under Vista]. For most applications of the Predator if logging is supported you can log about 20 minutes of PID's depending on the number you log.
With the U7194 connected to a 06/07 C6 Z06, LS7, E38 ecu you can only log about 90 seconds of data no matter how many PID's you log, 1 or 50. Probably a simple fix in the way Diablo formats and writes the PID data stream to the internal memory of the Predator, but it does not seem to be a priority and no one is working on the patch to fix it.
I have not tried to log any other ecu's with the U7194 but I have an 07 Escalade with a 6.2 liter engine sitting in my shop so I should probably try to log that ecu this weekend and see if the same problem occurs.

When was the last time you stopped by our engineering department to check on what they are working on or not working on?wstaab wrote:The logging issue has nothing to do with your personal computer.deereman wrote:wstaab, thanks for the info and I understand what you're saying about the PM's. I just told you that we are still looking into this issue, yet you keep making false statements like that which are unjustified.
As soon as we come up with a fix we will let you guys know and make a new revision to address it.

Well since I have called your organization and e-mailed several times and sent all data requested, and gotten vague answers or no response, then step up and post a date certain you will fix the problem and lets see if your engineering organization can meet customers expectations for a working product. Looking into an issue and committing to fixing a problem are not the same thing. In fact I am not sure Diablo has actually acknowledged there is a problem.mikel wrote:When was the last time you stopped by our engineering department to check on what they are working on or not working on?

I have two issues with Diablo's U7194 Predator which I do not have a solution for.
Short log times when connected to a GM E38 CAN bus ecu.
07 Cadiliac Escalade 6.2 liter has the same problem.
Iinformed Diablo on 4/13/2007 of this problem.
Data Viewer 3.0.0.16 will not play log files under Windows Vista, build 6.
Commit to a date to solve the problems or inform customers there is no fix.
I am still curious about the Dat Viewer, I run Vista Ultimate on my machine all day long and i have not had any problems with the DAT software running on Vista. Can you possible send some screen shots of what its doing. I have received logs from customers who had issues with viewing them and i was able to play the logs with no issues. If it comes down to it i feel like remote desktoping into your machine and fixing it myself. Please send the screen shots of DAT Viewer not displaying properly to [email protected]wstaab wrote:Well since I have called your organization and e-mailed several times and sent all data requested, and gotten vague answers or no response, then step up and post a date certain you will fix the problem and lets see if your engineering organization can meet customers expectations for a working product. U7194 short logging times
Mike,
What's the latest news on the short logging times for the U7194.
I keep searching the forum for an answer, but none seems to be coming. This is a severe handicap for a scan tool, to say nothing of the drawback on a tool advertised as a tuning system.
Ninety seconds of information should be, more correctly, defined as a snapshot.
I have a 06 LS2 Vette. Please respond.
Thanks,
Ed

RE: U7194 short logging times
Original post on short data logging times for the U7194 and the E38 ecu was 4/13/2007.
Three months later and no resolution or indication of when or if this will be resolved.
How about an answer Diablo!

Power....I have the same car and mods you do. I felt next to nothing with the KN and M2W until i installed the Diablo. Check you K&N MAF connections as early models for the KNs threw this code.Power wrote:I am getting a P0171 fuel trim bank 1, system too lean. Why wont my U7194 accept updates newer than 9r07.
Also; how is this going.
Coming up on three years and still nothing has changed.
I want 1/3 of my money back because it only does 2/3 of what you said it would do.

I guess it wasn't a false statement.mikel wrote:When was the last time you stopped by our engineering department to check on what they are working on or not working on?wstaab wrote:The logging issue has nothing to do with your personal computer.deereman wrote:wstaab, thanks for the info and I understand what you're saying about the PM's. the logging times will not change... the 7194 predator's have always had "short" logging times... the original 7194's logged for 1.5 minutes... the newer ones will log for about 3-3.5 minutes... and if doing a log correctly, that is plenty of time....
there is no revision update that will change that, as it is a hardware/memory limitation.
if you need more logging time, use the dataviewer program and a laptop in your vehicle, and then you can record a log until your laptop runs out of harddrive space.

Why wont my U7194 accept updates newer than 9r07.
Who do I talk to, to exchange my older, faulty model U7194 for a newer unit that works properly, and will log 3 to 3 1/2 minutes, instead of the 75 seconds that these early, faulty units logs.
As you can tell I am not pleased with Diablo's business practices. Their advertising is also misleading.

again... you have an older version of the tool that has a hardware/memory limitation... so, the newer, bigger crom revision updates will not load - because there isn't enough space available on the unit...
you should be able to go up to 9r08 and even 9r10... but, for your 06 vette, there's no reason to... there's nothing new in the newer revisions for your older car anyway... the newer revisions were to add additional support for newer 2009 / 2010 vehicles...

I agree, it should accept newer updates than 9R07, but it wont! Whenever I try to update to 9R08 or 9R09 the predator loads it up ok, but when I try to program the car it says, "Your calibration is not currently supported."06MonteSS wrote:again... you have an older version of the tool that has a hardware/memory limitation... so, the newer, bigger crom revision updates will not load - because there isn't enough space available on the unit...

If I reload 9R07 to the preditor it will program the car just fine. I have tried 9R08, 9R09 and 9R010 all with the same results.
This is all being done on the same 06 Corvette that I originally bought this thing for.
You say I don't need anything higher than 9R07, but you are assuming that I wont buy a newer Vette, or that I wont unlock it and sell it. I have been shoping for a new Grand Sport convertible. This situation limits the market that is available for me to sell to.
aaah, ok.. that's a totally different issue then... so the predator IS updating to those other revisions correctly... its just that your older car's calibration ID is not supported in those newer revisions... that's what that message means "Your calibration is not currently supported."
I'd get your car's pcm flashed/updated at the dealer to a newer calibration ID... then the newer revision should work just fine...
tell 'em you're experiencing a battery run down issue... there's a TSB for the vettes about that, and they will flash an update to the car's pcm for it.. .which will give you a newer calibration Id in it....
