U7194 08 Sierra max questions..

Post by dentguy »

Alright.. I don't want to sound like a dummy, but here goes... I purchased a U7194 the other day, and have played around with it quite a bit since. I did the crom update and now it recogonizes my truck ( 08 gmc sierra 6.0 max). I started out with the diablo tune, and it runs good, then did some more playing with it, got rid of the speed limiter, (yeehaw!!), and got the LTFT's set in at -.78 on both banks, checked the A/F ratio at WOT, and have it at 12.54... Soooo, where are these other tunes that everyone is talking about, the 91, and 93 oct. tunes... I've got the diablotune and the 87oct that come up in the main menu... Am I not looking in the right place, is there another download?? Also, is there a way to get rid of the traction controll? Even when I shut it off with the switch in the truck it still kicks it on. I have read a bunch of stuff on here, and you guys really know your stuff!! I appreciate your help, and patience with my rookie questions.... Thankyou...

k, your truck application only has the 2 tunes available...

the 87 tune - obviously for 87 octane gas...

and the Diablo Tune - which is made for 91 octane or higher.

not sure about the traction control issue in the trucks..

That's correct. The Diablotune is an "at the limit" 91 tune... those are the two canned tunes you get in the tool. It is a 91 tune as large chunks of the nation don't get anything more than 91 anymore.

NOW, one thing you CAN do...if you have 93 available in your area.... you can give it more timing to support the 93 octane and get a little more ooomph. Load up with 93, adjust timing, monitor for knock retard at WOT and adjust the timing right to the point to where you get no KR. There IS a little more room in the tune to do this... just GOTTA run 93 if you do.

This may help with the logs:

Am I not looking in the right place, is there another download??

Additional tunes would be CUSTOM tunes that can be made for your vehicle (CMR dealer). They can be e-mailed to you, pushed to the tool, and then pushed to your vehicle. IT's cool because you can keep a whole library of tunes on your pooter and load at will. Just gotta get a third party vendor to make 'em. Check the DS web site for CMR dealers in your area. They'll make whatever you want---for a fee of course....

Also, is there a way to get rid of the traction controll? Even when I shut it off with the switch in the truck it still kicks it on.

THAT I am not sure of....I don't have stabilitrac... Personally, I would just remain happy with turning it off when I want to...it's only a button push. Heck, sometimes you'll WANT it.... as opposed to disabling it permanently... jsut my $0.05.

You don't mean it kicks it on AT RANDOM, right. It should turn off via the button, and stay off until you shut down and re-start.... although I am not positive.

Cheers !

oh, that may not actually be the traction control still kickin on... it could be the "differential score protection" scheme... have that same thing in my car too...

dunno if that applies to your vehicle or not - since mine is FWD...

Thanks for the info guys... I am currently running the diablotune, and have played with the spark control also, I am monitoring the knock retard, and it has stayed at zero so far.. The truck runs great, and I've noticed a big difference, but like most everyone, just looking for a little more!! Should have made my nickname "speedfreak".. Thanks again for the superquick responses!!

When I shut the T/C off and then hammer on it from a stop, or a slow roll, it seemingly comes back on and kills the power, then once rolling a little faster then gives it everything... Maybe it is the Torque Management????

When I shut it off the info center says t/c off, then there is a light on the dash that lights up, when it does it starts to slip the rear tires, the light on the dash starts flashing..

Sounds like to me your just turning off your traction control. Hold the same button in for an additional 5-10 seconds to turn off the stability control. Both need turned off inorder to "smoke" the tires if you so desire.

The vmax tuned and dial in really runs good. Can't wait till torque management and shift firmness become available... hint hint...

I'll try holding the button a little longer.. I didn't realize that's what needed to be done.. It really took the fun out of driving around with snowy and icy roads!!! Got a buddy with a chipped up hemi, he needs to go down!! So, should I too bump the HINT on the T/M and shift firmness!!! Thanks to all on this forum for the help!! Ya'll rock!!

If ya hold the button for I think 5 seconds the Traction Control (this is what detects wheel spin when going straight and passes power to the other side) turns off. If you keep holding it past the 5 seconds through ~15 seconds you will see a further notice that the Stability Control (this monitors if you are in a side slide like if the rear end is coming around during donuts this will break the appropriate side to bring the truck back in line) is off.

Of course I have NEVER disabled either of these functions :)

This is good info to have if you get stuck in the mud or in snow. If you wanted to rock the truck back and forward it will not with these enabled. So disable them.

you have 4wd or 2wd??

4wd doesn't have it, cuz obviously you have 4wd for traction issues...

and 2wd doesn't necessarily have it either - it's an option. if your truck didn't have that option on it, then you won't have the traction control button.
