CUSTOME TUNE

Post by mongo53 »

HOW DO I GET THE TUNE YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT? THE TUNE THAT WOULD ALLOW ME TO UNPLUG THE REAR O2S TOTALLY. AND IS THIS BETTER THAN JUST TUNING OFF REAR CAT CODES FROM RUNNING NO CATS ?

You would have to e-mail me [email protected] your original backup from the predator and include a list of mods and i will set it up accordingly. There not really a benefit from removing the rear 02's vs. turning the codes off for them, some people just want them removed and put a wideband in its place.

the wideband O2 sensor is for measuring your AFR (air/fuel ratio) in order to tune properly at WOT (wide open throttle).

the NBO2's (narrow-band O2's) are your stock/OEM O2 sensors, which are only really accurate at measuring 14.7:1 AFR for closed-loop operation (normal driving/cruising). Once you get into tuning for WOT, the values you need to monitor are outside the stock O2 sensor's range and therefore a wideband O2 sensor is needed to accurately measure the AFR.

(holy crap!! I'm really learning this stuff!! LOL)

I have a question about Air to Fuel Ratios. While driving around, the AFR is usually steady at 14.75. However, when I go WOT, it shoots up to between 17 and 18. Am I correct in assuming this is really lean? If so, is that a problem? I know if you go too lean you can blow up the engine. But how lean is too lean? I guess I'll have to get the WBO2 sensors. While the stock tune was in, AFR was about 14.95, so the 91 octane tune brought that down .2. This is just a little confusing to me. Please help.

if you're talking about seeing that 17 and 18 on the Predator screen, there's a bug with the unit. The real value will show in the log, but it's an estimated value - not an accurate one.

Anyway, the 17 or 18 value showing on the screen will be fixed in a future update.

Monte is correct, the value in the predator is inverted, i would only use that value as a rough approximation of what the real value is. If you actually went that lean you would not hurt anything anyway cause it would be so lean the motor would not have enough power to hurt anything.
