Tried correcting speedo...

Post by CountryGirl »

('02 Silverado 4.8 ) U7198 <--(I believe)

When we bought the truck used, we switched to bigger tires and rims, which threw the speedo off and yesterday, the Predator came in and we tried fixing it so we put in the tire size etc., then we put it to the 87 oct. tune...WELL, my speedo went WAY off; I was going about 35-40 (just knowing by feel) and it said I was going 100 and it started shutting off b/c of that safety future. We put it back to stock w/o tire changes so I could get to where I needed to w/o going 10 mph the whole way. Now, it's on 87 w/o tire size changes but a few shift pressure and points until we figure out what was going on, so if any of yall know, that would help. Thanks...
Yes...my ringtone is of a Cummins startin' up. Sexy, isn't it?

Ok...well we changed the axle ratio a little lower than it is and the speedo is right. But still...

Have you heard of the stepper motor issue in 02-05 GM clusters? There is a recall if you are lucky ( up to 75k miles?) This is what happens when they go haywire. Mine has been off and on for a year. mostly working correctly. So, this may not be Predator issue for you.

CountryGirl, I'm pretty sure I recognize you from GMtrucks.com, right?

Either way, I will gladly fix this for you in a custom tune if you'd like.
Email me or post your backup file here and we'll make you a new tune.
Be sure to let me know the tire size and what octane level you'd like to run.

Thanks

Thanks, Mike. We'll try it out tomorrow morning. We were going download it earlier tonight but, of course, Yahoo mail wasn't working at the time but working now. I'll let yall know how it does.

And yeah, I've been wanting to resize the sig, but never got around to it. Sorry, I know it's annoying.
