Help adjusting Rev Limiter

Post by playa9714 »

Hi I have the diablo sport for my 2006 v6 mustang, and I was setting the rev limiter to 5400 but when Im WOT it bogs down, is that suppose to happen or Im I doing something wrong, I thought once it reaches the limit, it would kick into the next gear.

When I dont have the rev limiter set it goes to about 5700-5800 then it kicks in hard the way I like it, but Im scared If I dont set the rev limiter I could hurt my engine, can someone please let me know If I doing something wrong or is that the way its suppose to work??

When it's bogging out you're hitting the rev limiter, but your shift point's set higher. You should set your shift points about 200 rpm lower than your rev limit. Set your shift points to 5400 rpm and just leave the rev limiter to stock. I'd just leave the shift points and rev limit at stock though.

Agreed.. Id leave them both alone... factory put the rev limiter to the point it is for a reason. By lowering it all your doing is robbing yourself of extra gear power. If you insist on leaving it at 5400 (for what ever reason) change the shift point as said to around 5200rpms.

so go ahead and leave things the way they are? I mean I like the way it is now, and I want to leave it like that, but will it harm my engine, going in the red mines start at 5500 rpms?

if the factory shift point is 5500 leave it that way.. the way it came from factory is set to push the engine to its best performance without forcing anything out of its "comfort" zone.. basicly.. a car is set to its peak safe performance from factory. What we do is push that a little further with the handhelds.
