2007 GT. New to Predator. Need advice.

Post by noreport »

Just purchased a brand new U7145 from Summit Racing for my 2007 Mustang GT daily driver . I am assuming that it is ready to go on my car and that I don't have to update anything from the Diablo website. I have no idea how to use it because the owner's manual that came with it is very "limited" in scope. I have no mods except Hurst Short Throw Shifter (manual tranny), BoomTubes axle backs, and FRPP FR3 Handling Pack.

Here is what I would like to do...am changing from factory 3:31 to FRPP 4.10 rear end. Have a an AiRaid CAI yet to install. Car currently runs on 87 octane and here in California we can only get 87, 89, and 91 octane. So, AiRaid says leave the MVT in and I don't need to change the factory tune (except for the speedo for the 4.10 gears). Diablo and my Ford mechanic say take out the MVT and use a Predator tune. Would that mean 91 octane and is there a tune for the AiRaid CAI in the Predator? Can I tune for the CAI and change my speedo for the 4.10s? Suggestions? And where can I get an understandable owner's manual? I have searched the Diablo website for days and can't find one. I am pretty confused about all this... thanks! NR

Here is what you do. install the 4:10 and CAI and remove the MVT. If the airaid tune in the diablo is a 91 Octane tune and you want to run 87 then retard the global spark by -4. If you want to run 89 octane the retard -2. the rule of thumb is one degree for each octane +/- from original tune. Adjust the gears then download to car.

PS: The GT cars have 3:55's not 3:31's.

- Plug in diablo
- choose performance tune.
- choose Airaid tune (once tune is chosen it will download the stock tune to the diablo. Once the stock tune is saved it will ask if you want to load the airaid tune or modify it)
- choose modify
- select the gear change option and change to the 4:10 option and hit escape to back out
- select the global spark option and retard -4 degrees or points (don't remember which)
- hit escape until you are prompted to to down load your adjusted tune.
- follow the prompts and your done.

Hope this helps

Hi and thanks for the reply...the '07 GT comes stock with 3:31s. 3:55 was a $100 option that I didn't get because I knew I was going to go 4.10 eventually. Why would I want to choose "Modify" when it asks me? Oh, choose modify if I want to tune for lower octane...is that what you mean? If the AiRaid tune is pre-prgrammed at 91 octane and that is okay with me then I wouldn't choose modify right? But how will I know what octane the AiRaid tune is in the diablo pre-set tune? Thanks NR

All of cold air kit tunes in the predator are designed for the use of 91 octane. And yes using 91 octane will give you more performance than using 89 octane.
