How many custom tune capacity?

Post by reginhild! »

Will the new Trinity have the capability to store more custom tunes than the Predator due to its 100mb storage space?

yes, it's supposed to be able to hold multiple custom tunes at once...

Let me rephrase the question:

The Predator stores 5 custom tunes. Will the Trinity be able to store 6 or more custom tunes? If so, how many custom tunes can it store?

By saying "yes" above it indicates that it will store 6 or more tunes but, the answer wasn't totally clear.

no need to rephrase the question... the answer is still the same...

it will hold/store multiple custom tunes in it....

it will function just as your model predator does now for your truck, as far as storing/saving tunes... just like your current predator does now.... no, it will not hold more than 5 custom tunes...

do you really have that many??? if so, then you apparently don't have your truck dialed in as it should be.... shouldn't need any more than 1 custom tune if everything is done right in it....

that enough?? you should feel lucky you get THAT many... we can only have 1 single custom tune intalled/stored in ours, and that's it!!!

Example of multiple custom tune possibilities:

85 Octane 8000 ft altitude
87 Octane sea level
87 Octane 8000 ft altitude
89 Octane sea level
89 Octane 8000 ft altitude
91 Octane sea level
91 Octane 8000 ft altitude
E85 sea level
E85 8000 ft altitude
1/2 E85, 1/2 85 Octane 8000 ft altitude
1/2 E85, 1/2 85 Octane sea level
1/2 E85, 1/2 87 Octane 8000 ft altitude

I'd probably cut down the options to 6 based on how the truck performs with various octane ratings and E85 and a E85/gas mix at two altitudes. For example (after testing out what works best):

Custom 1: 87 Octane at Sea Level
Custom 2: E85 at Sea Level
Custom 3: 50% E85, 50% 87 Octane at Sea Level
Custom 4: 85 Octane at 8000 ft
Custom 5: E85 at 8000 ft
Custom 6: 30% E85, 70% 85 Octane at 8000 ft

Cant the tunes be saved on the SD card and imported/exported into Trinity as needed? Would have to restore stock tune then load whichever modified tune after importing it from the SD card, correct?

Don't really see much benefit for the additional 2x+ cost with the Trinity if everything is the same as the Predator except the display.

You can get the HyperTec Hyperpac for $449 at autoanything and a Predator tuner for a similar price to the Trinity alone. The Trinity needs to offer something extra.

0 in the hyperpac but still 5 in the Predator - as I mentioned both together cost same as the Trinity. You get more stock tuning options, Hyperpac + Predator options, you get drag stip function, you get a dyno function so you can compare stock and custom tunes yourself, and you get dual fuel tuning available for more vehicles.

Some unique features to Trinity: One part number will support all DS applications, 320x240 24 bit color touch screen, customizable analog inputs, customizable dash boards with graphical gauges, you can control a Power Puck on the fly, 1GB of memory in which to store data logs.

More importantly, this is our flag ship product moving forward. After we get all the Predator applications supported we have a list of cool new feature ideas a mile long that are going to be priority. Eliminating the 5 tune limit is on that list.
