I just got a U7140 for my '06 Mustang GT.
First question is what CAI's are supported by the Predator? I have a S&B which is supposed to work without any tune, is this safe considering what the Predator does?
Secondly, it does not have custom tunes on it, however it has listed Performance Tune, 87 Performance Tune, 91 Performance Tune, Modify Stock Tune, and Original Backup. Which of these gives the most performance? Is the "Performance Tune" meant for 93 octane and the best one?
thanks!!!

Couple of newB questions...

"87 Performance Tune" is for performance 87 Octane fuel.
similarly, "91 Performance Tune" is for performance with 91 Octane.
The "Performance Tune" is for 93 Octane. It would probably provide the "best performance," but ONLY if you are filling with 93.
So, "which gives the most performance?" Depends on what you want to use for fuel, obviously. Nice to have the choice.
"Original Backup" is your stock tune, that was in your car when you first attached the Predator, downloaded to your tool. You can reinstall it to your car, to bring it back to (lower performance and) what it was when you got it.
"Modify Stock Tune" is just what it says. Make user adjustable changes to the tune.
All of this was available, as my brother says, through "RTFM" which means "Read The ... Manual."

Thanks for taking the time to write all of that. While common sense would dictate that with 87 tune comes 87 gas, if you read said manual you will see that it specifically states on page 2 (page 14 of the PDF file that is downloadable on this site) that premium grade fuel is required for all tunes; my common understanding is that premium fuel is 91+ octane according to most auto-manufacturers. With all that said, that was not even my question. I was only wanting to know what "Performance Tune" meant on the tuner screen as it did not specify the octane. Again, if you look at the manual, there is no clear definition given to this. Additionally, it says, "Note: performance tunes may very from predator to predator." So, there is no clear definition of what "Performance Tune" means in any of the manuals that I found, nor the page of this site dedicated to 05+ Mustang GT's.Parsifal wrote:"87 Performance Tune" is for performance 87 Octane fuel.

As for the gas, I am running 93 and wanted to insure that I was getting the max benefit out of the tuner for that octane.
Furthermore, there is no clarification that I can find on this site or in any of the manuals stating what CAI's are supported. I know that I have an old version and that I need to update in order to go to the OEM screen in the Predator to find the available CAI tunes, but being available in print or online would be nice as well.
Thanks again for the info, but I had already read everything I could find and browsed this board too...I can't find a search function on this forum though. I wasn't being lazy
"Premium" vs. "Premium"
I believe that their reference to "premium" fuels is not with respect to octane, as the octane reference is specific and indentified.RCobra07 wrote: ...

Rather, "premium fuel" refers to using a good (i.e., probably Brand Name) fuel, such as Shell or Mobil. That is as opposed to getting the cheapest ("discount," not "premium") independent jobber's gas-of-the-week ("gotw"). With a quality ("premium" quality) fuel, you know the quality of the fuel. With the gotw, it may be good or not, depending upon from which jobber the dealer got his gas that week. May be fine, may not be; but the variability means that "your mileage may vary," thus the caveat to use "premium (quality) fuel."

Re: "Premium" vs. "Premium"
This makes sense and seemed like the alternative meaning of "premium" to me as well. ThanksParsifal wrote:I believe that their reference to "premium" fuels is not with respect to octane, as the octane reference is specific and indentified.RCobra07 wrote: ...
