PROBLEMS

Post by Problems »

1. I don't have the part # near me at this time
2. Rev # U7185
3. 2005 Chevy 2500HD LLY

Had the Pred for a while now...has always worked good. It's an older one...last time it was updated was to the 2.02 version. Now it won't tune the truck. I wanted to re-tune it because I switched tire sizes for the winter and wanted to recalibrate the speedo. I get error messages like-

- Invalid Key
- Script Error, Interpretor stopped
- ###Error###, Writing process terminated
- Error, timeout, press escape to continue

Talked to Diablo tech support on the phone a few days ago and they told me that since I live in a cold area to take it inside and let it warm up...said they've seen them act up when they get cold sometimes (even though I never had a problem last year).

Let it sit in the house for a day and tried again, same messages.

Since then I have tried calling Tech support 4 times at least. Wait 5 minutes and give up.

Tonight I tried re-tuning again and it failed. Tried starting my truck afterwards and it would start then die...tried about 5 times. I tried calling tech support yet again...sat on hold for 10-15 minutes and gave up.

So then after the 10-15 minutes I cranked it again and it started and ran normal. I thought I was going to be stuck in that stupid parking lot.

Since all that happened it has been a few weeks. Got a hold of Tech support again (finally) and they said it was probably a voltage issue. I haven't added anything except a boost and Pyro gauge. My batteries charged up to full in under 5 minutes so I know they are good...never have any cranking problems.

Someone please help asap! I now need to bring my truck in because now it may possibly have blown head gaskets. I HAVE TO REMOVE THE PREDATOR SO THE DEALER DOESN'T BLAME IT ON THAT. I couldn't get anyone to answer at tech support earlier this week. I sat on hold for 15-20 minutes a couple of times.

It can be tough to diagnose issues like this without seeing the truck, but if it needs to go to the dealer, thats fine.

They will not be able to see the tune installed unless they actually read the file out and send it to an engineer in Detroit to read and compare it to a sock file.

Are you sure they won't look at it to diagnose what went wrong? Not very many people have the head gasket problem but it does happen.

Any other ideas of what it could possibly be?

Can I send the programmer in right now to get updated or do I have to have the stock programming put back into the truck first?

They will look at trouble codes, and maybe live data, but not the tune.

The Predator can be updated for $99 + shipping, go ahead and send it in when you get the RMA #.

Post by TurboDuramax999 »

Mikel i need help... i have the predator 7180 for my LB7 and it stopped working completely on me today. i plugged it in to the OBD port and it didnt turn on at all. it doesnt power up at all. i bought this programmer back in October of 08. i dont have any aftermarket radio or anything. i did however install the bullydog boost guage bout 2 months ago but it still worked even with that installed. now i know this might be a dumb question but my cigarette lighter went out a couple of days after new years. would that have anything to do with it not working?
