new update for john

Post by tim_r73703 »

Here is what happened over the weekend. Left hotel drove 47 miles to location crusie on 70 cutout 3 times. I have a friend that wants to get a diablo so downloaded the friend trial we drove his truck for about a 20 mile round trip, cutout 2 times. Left location after job was done hooked on to work trailer, truck in tow/haul, performance stacker with puck on 60hp started to drive to amarillo 10 miles down road cutout 2 times changed to tow stacker puck still in 60 hp drove another 40 miles to hotel cutout 1 time, maybe seems to be doing it worse in performance have not ran truck in extreme yet. In about and hour or so will be driving about 300 miles to get home and will give feedback on the trip home.....

When the vehicle "cuts out" does the turbo bark?

Johan..... the "shuddering" remains in my truck as well. I drove close to 500 miles this weekend and I kept a running count of the number of times the truck shuddered; 11 times total. With the exception of one time, the shudders were not near as bad as before. The truck barked only once and that was when I was getting on it pretty hard. Any ideas what can be causing this? I also threw trouble code P-0148 for the first time. I think this has more to do with the weak factory lift pump though.

However the rough idle is gone for good. Looks like we have one of the problems solved, but the larger problem still remains. I'll get you the CAL-ID number shortly if that will help you out.

No johan not getting turbo bark just a qucik cutout, it drops speed then picks back up again. Did get a check engine light and i have this in my new update post to you which i hope you will read soon. I am leaving friday for trip to the lake and will be pulling a 28ft travel trailer and wanted the extra power but i am really worried about what may happen to the truck with all the stalls and stumbles. I know you guys will get it fixed and worked out just hope it soon.

I do not recall now but have we tried it without the Puck and see if it remains, i think we did but I am not sure now. Just trying to make up some angles to get to this issue.

I've tried using the predator in the performance/econ, 0-50-90 puck, and also tow 0-50-90 puck, does it every time. Acts like you shut the key off for a second or two and turn it back on (all the other gadgets work fine though). Does it with cruise on, and the cruise control takes 3-4 seconds to re-coupe and come back on. See other post, codes p0088, p0148, u0141 came on, wondering if the computer is seeing a high rail pressure and kicking off the inj. pump?? I'm going to try and get a DRB from a dealer friend for the next weekend if I have time and ck out the live data to see something odd if it's not fixed by then.

Hey Johan,

I don't even have a Puck and I'm also experiencing the occassional cutout. I'm using the latest R14 release with the Extreme RKL program.

Thanks!

Johan.... the truck shudders with the Predator/Puck combo or just the Predator. It's not as bad as before (like I said) but it still cuts out often. I have also thought about what "hasman70" says. That sounds like a valid point.

My Calibration ID is 35325553AQ. Same as "tim r73703".

OK thats what i thought. I also think hasman is on the right track with the pcm seeing too high of a rail pressure and cuts out. The crappy part for me now is i have to capture a failure and determine where it might be. Now since i am having issues with getting an actual truck with the issue here would any of you guys be willing to try a custom tune, the custom tune flash is a 10min procedure every time.
Let me know if anyone would be willing to give that a shot, it would speed up the whole process quite a bit.

My truck does it pretty bad. If I was closer and had gauges I would just drop it off at your place.

I know I have eluded before, but how difficult is it to get the data logging and live data going on the predator? We could really help out a lot if we could capture it for you and download or relay the info to you!! Sounds like some pretty pissed customers that were sold a unit with invisible features on it... On the rail pressure issue, I was thinking that possibly the pressure was building slowly depending on how much pressure is used and that is what is making it so random. Seems like if I'm on a long cruise not much throttle and then I pass or go up a grade it will do it more often. Hard to say though cause it has done it just cruising as well :(

Cut out

Post by Herculou »

I usually drive short trips and I don't have the cut out problem, just the "miss" during idle. Maybe there is something to the pressure building up. Do you know if there trucks have a pressure releif valve? If the do, and all hydraulics should, it may be letting all the pressure off rather than just relieving what it needs to. That would explain the few seconds as it would take a few secnds for the pressure to build back up. Especially while running @ 70mph.
