2005 RAm VIN mismatch

Post by gomangohemi »

I have an '05 4x4 QC and a custom CMR tune. Right from the start, the tuner had problems writing a custom TCM tune. He did the PCM and the truck runs good.

We had the shift points set @ (1-2) 6100 (2-3) 6100.
Here's the problem, I updated the CROM to the latest (9R02_E) and now the trans is acting very odd. First is shifts @ 5600 when set to 6100 @ WOT.

Next it up shifts way to early while just cruising along. I mean 5th gear @ 35-40 MPH. Then I need to give it 1/2 - 2/3 throttle to get it to down shift.

I then Downgraded the CROM to the 9R02_B that was previously in the tune. NO change.

I still cannot get a custom TCM tune to load. I just get a VIN mismatch and have to return to stock.

How long is it going to take to get this essential part of this tuner corrected?
I mean this is annoying. The tool itself will not change the shift points (for the better, it did for the worst however) and a can't load a custom tcm tune. WTF :x

Attached is the log file of a few WOT runs.

Please post up the tune files here as well so we can take a look.

Sounds like the wrong TCM file is being used to create the tune.

9r02 has corrected all shift point issues that were present, so I would try installing a canned tune and see if you have better control over the shift points that way for now.

Thanks
Mike

My truck will not run on a canned tune. Wouldn't the tcm support file used by any of the canned tunes be the same as it's a separate tcm write.

I guess its worth a try, but I know it will not idle on the canned tunes and the WOT will be super lean.

Give this tcm file a try.
You also need to use this ori file, get rid of the ones you have on your pc and use these.

Thanks Johan, I'll try them tonight and let you know.

Question for you, there are two files. Please explain them. I just want to understand what I'm doing.

Is the first file the TCM tune and the second one the engine tune?

Where you able to open the CMR tune? Does it look good?

The files he posted are just TCM files I believe.

OK that tcm tune file did load. Thanks

The 1-2 & 2-3 shifts are where they should be, but the up shift problem remains.

While just cruising under light throttle, is up shifts way too quick. I was in overdrive tonight @ 35 mph. Also, is there any why to get the shifts more crisp?

Give these a shot, modified both files.
tcm for slower upshifts at part throttle.
pcm for better shifts, everything else was left the same.
