Erased ECM

Post by sceptre »

I have been doing a lot of reading and come across a lot of posts on various boards about people ending up with blank ECM's. What usually happens here? Operator error or a generic problem? I'm going to make a guess and say it might have been a problem at some point with some particular version but it has been straightened out.

Also, what does Diablo do for people with this problem? Can it be sent to you guys for complete reprogramming, or does it have to go to the dealer at our cost?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm doing a lot of reading while I am waiting for the results of my journeyman's exam. I said I wouldn't buy one until I know I passed my exam, so I'm doing a lot of reading until then 8)

It is tough to say what really happens when there is an issue in the field as we are not there to see it, but the flash process in the Predator is very safe, in fact, our Predator flashes safer than a factory DRB3 which is the scariest thing I have ever connected to a PCM.

If a PCM is blanked out, we always offer the option of sending it here to be reflashed, but it is generally quicker/easier to go to the dealer and have it done, but we do not reimburse for reflashes.

Thanks

I did some guinea pig work for Mike a month or so ago, and tried to flash a couple of things... it failed to write numerous times, but each time it failed, the Predator was able to put the factory tune back and my vehicle was able to start. It is very, VERY rare for a PCM to end up erased because of a DiabloSport tool.
