Hey all -
Updated my 7135 to Release 9r12 yesterday and when I first attempted to load it to my '08 300C, I got the message 'Your vehicle needs an updated Calibration ID'. I dutifully followed the instructions, downloaded the update, applied it to the car and then did the 91 OCT tune. All seems to have worked very well and I was pleased with the ease of installation and the clarity of the accompanying instructions.
My question, though, is, what exactly did I just do? What is the Cal ID and what does it do to the car? Where does it come from (Chrysler, Diablo?)?
Thanks in advance for the info!

RE: What exactly is a
It is the calibration ID of the software in the PCM.
It comes from Chrysler.

OK. Meaning the PCM s/w itself was updated by Chrysler - or did they just update the 'ID' for kicks and chuckles? Any clues on what they may have changed?mikel wrote:It is the calibration ID of the software in the PCM.

I would also like to know the reasons for these. On a different app (2007 ram 7137), the calibration update changes partial throttle trans settings. The new ones are horrible. The old ones were nice.
Maybe DCX thought they were improving MPG or something? EPA complience?

Is it really necessary for us to perform the OEM PCM calibration from chrysler? Honestly, Im a firm believer in dont upgrade if it's working fine motto since I work in the printing industry and new applications are coming out every 4 months and we dont upgrade ASAP w/o having to do research to see what would benefit us.
Is there an option for us to decide if we want to upgrade the PCM w/ the new OEM calibration? Im not a big fan of 'forced upgrades'
