We do not program the allison trans computer. Why are you getting this limp mode, or when does it appear?

This seems to happen when I try and do a burnout. The wheels start to spin then the truck just bogs down to where the tires dont spin no more( as if it shifted from 1st all the way to 5th or 6th). Shortly after that the truck gets power again and hauls. But that is a loss of about 2 to 3 seconds. Is this normal? Or should i just stay away from doing that? This happens on the 85 HP setting. Havnt tried the 120HP yet. Ive heard you can only add up to 75hp to a stock allison before it starts actin funny. What truth is there to that? The truck also has 20" wheels with 35" tires, do you think that might contribute to it acting that way?

It sounds like to me that the traction control system is kicking in. it see's the rear wheels spinning so it reduces the engine power and uses the abs to slow the wheels down. Dont worry about the allison trans, it will hold the power. the weakest point in the trans is the input shaft and its rated to hold almost 800 ft lbs of torque.

Let me know how it runs, I work on them all day long and I haven't seen a duramax with the diablo tuner. How do you like it?

well i tried it and it runs awsome, provided that i dont burnout. But the acceleration is incredible. Ive been running it on the 120hp setting for about 4 days with no problems. And the smoke coming out the stacks looks really cool when accelerating.

I have a 02 LB7 with only 50K miles, and mine goes into limp mode fairly freqently with the tuner. Every time I pull a trailer and it kicks down on a hill the tanny goes into limp mode and I have to reset the computer. It seems that my Allison CAN'T handle the power. Even the 60 hp settings! It aslo did it the other day at a stop light burnout. I don't know what to do! Any ideas?

i dont know what could be wrong. When mine went into limp mode i never had to reprogram the computer. It just cut off all power for like 3-4 seconds then it surged back and was fine after that. It was also while doing a burnout. I havnt experienced that when driving or passing. Ive also pulled my boat on the 85hp setting with no problems.

limp mode

i have had the same issue with the "limp mode". i have seen the same impressive increase in acceleration after this. as described, when the hammer is down from a dead stop, its like its weaker than day old dish water then picks up. id compare it to driving an older chevy v8 with the quadra jet 4barrel. always sounds almost like it gonna quit then bam, hang on! is there anyone out there thats found a fix for this?

to grizzlyoffroad. this as a normal problem with the trans. When it happens is the trans. setting a code? as most people are saying the tans is rated to hold the hp. tq. but in my experience this is not the case. on my personal truck and customers. there are lots of products that the tuner its self will defuel the engine when it upshifts so it does not hurt the trans. if you are getting an incorrect gear ratio code in the trans. there are a couple of fixes.
