Diablo Sport trashing my tranny?

Post by milehighhemi »

Man this Diablo Sport is not playing well with us I just blew my trans about 10 miles after installing the 93 tune. It started on the way to work I was crusin about 45 50 and the trans came out of gear and felt like it was in N so I backed off and it felt like it went back in gear so I got back on it and it did it again so I so I lifted again and it got worse now it wont go into 3rd and I have to shift it in 1st and 2nd. Drive wont shift out of first. I called Daiblo and they said sorry but they dont mess with the tranny at all.
I have no clue what to do not I dont know if I can trust Diablo Sport I kinda needed them for new 426.
Alright well my tranns is a built. My truck is a 2003 1500 4x4 Q/C 383 did all the work to the trans. It was installed back when I still had the 5.7 and it had 1500 miles on it with that motor and then I got the 426 installed and I had no problems I had moved to Colorado from VA and put another 1000 miles on it and I wanted to switch form Split Sec and superchips to DS for better tunning and to richin it up abit. for the elevation. So I bought the DS and went to install it it. It said I had to update the tunner when I connected to the tuck so I when online and updated the DS and connected to the truck. it never asked which tune I wanted to run. It just said it saved the orginal back up and I ran for a few days as is and then I switched to the 93 tune and 10 mile later I had problems. hhhhhhhmmmmmmm WTF I dont know if it was DS or not but thats the only thing I changed. so what else could it be?
So I used DS and when back to the original back up and the problems are still there and I tried putting superchips back on and its now telling me it needs updated. I dont know what to do. Do I update the superchips and run with that or is the update I got from DS F***ing every thing up? ?????????????? anyone know what I should do

10 miles on the tune didn't kill your tranny. It was dead before then. The DS tune just pushed it over the edge. The Superchips tune and the motor killed the tranny long before you ever installed the tune from the Predator.

Some people are posting in about tranny problems. Are you @DS going to try to look at maybe focusing on a tcm update or at least look at the tranny files? I mean , everyone cant have a bad tranny.

You guys need to realize that you're the Guinea pigs for the TCM programs. Nobody else has TCM support. Eventually it will get looked at. That way they know what to do so they don't mess up the expensive Mercedes and GM trannys.

We are not making any major changes in the TCM files, which is why it seems really odd that anyone is blaming us for these issues.

Also, you have a 426 in that truck?

How many miles on the tranny since you installed the 426?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you probably need to look into upgrading the transmission.

Do a lot of hauling for the move? That could of put a little more of a beating on the tranny. and then the 93 tune set it over the edge.

Once again....there is NOTHING we do to the 03 trannsmissions, period.
Could not kill one if we tried, due to the fact that we cant edit the TCM files!!

Also, running the 93 octane canned tune on a 426 stroker is against everything we have ever stated as a use for this tool.

A lack of custom tuning may be the biggest issue here, and to be honest, I am glad he did not hurt the engine due to the improper tuning. It may have been a blessing that the trans is having problems as running that 426 on the 93 tune for much longer was sure to lead to even more expensive issues.

Very true about that 426 on a canned tune. I dont even know how it would run right. I would love to see the fuel trims log.

Wasn't trying to make it look like i was pointing to the DSP as a cause. WHat i mean is that there may of been a previous prblem with the tranny, then the 426 was installed and cause more strain. Then any gains form the DSP just turned out to bee too much power/torque for the condition of the tranny.

You can point more fingers at user error than you could point at the DSP. If it was a brand new tranny with the original engine in the truck and then the tranny failed, i doubt you could even blame the DSP either.

with as much hp as that 426 makes that's what probably killed the trans, i've heard once you get over 400 hp it's not hard to shred a trans
