"The application is missing or corrupt", Predator

So I haven't updated my Predator since 8r14, and decided to catch up.
I had downloaded 9r15 last week, restore my car ('06 Charger) to stock, and attempted to send crom 9r15 to the Predator. The byte count got all the way to the end (8516 I think it was), then the Predator displayed "Unble to store CROM image". That was it, the DS Downloader was unresponsive, I ended up having to power cycle the Predator. It's now a useless deadweight, only displaying "The application is missing or corrupt".

Is there no fallback mode when a CROM image doesn't upload properly?

I'm suspecting this will need to be returned to Diablo - I'm hoping at their expense for next day shipping to and fro. Anyone else have this experience, and what was the resolution? Of course I'll be calling Monday. I'm a little frustrated at this point.

That usually happens when the download gets corrupted. Try downloading the file again and check the size and see if it compares to what it's supposed to be. Read the directions on the forum regarding the error. It's fixable and easily recoverable... just follow the instructions "to the letter"

It's happened to me numerous times.... my ISP sucks and kills my downloads sometimes.

Thanks. I found the sticky containing instructions on how to recover from this.

My Predator was one of very first U7135's made (I had pre-ordered it). It seems it will not accept the latest CROM files. I tried several times to load 9r16 and 9r15, which are larger in size than older versions. I then tried 9r12 and it loaded.

I will be contacting Diablo shortly to seek a resolution . . .

Ok, tech support confirmed my suspicion, my early U7135 will not support the later CROM files. As a suggestion, it would be nice if somehow the dSDownloader would know this, and not offer to try (and fail) sending up CROM files that have no hope of loading.
